Is This What Brexiteers Wanted?
Queues at Dover:

I wonder how many of those caught up in the queues voted for Brexit. We travelled to France dozens of times when we were in the EU and were never held up at French border control (which was often unmanned as it didn't need to check anything). I hopr Brexiteers are sent to the back of the queue.

Rather bizarre thing to do, really; but then I look at London buses and see a map of the Seine on them...
But the French are allowed to police their own borders however they wish. If you don't like it, don't go to France. I'm sure the drop-off in British tourists will bring the govenment to its knees.

The culprit for chaos:
Mr Gontier, 62 [Head of France's Border Force] who is on record as describing Britain's decision to quit the bloc six years ago as a "regression" was accused of failing to ensure there were enough French officers in Dover port to process checks on Friday.
Ms Elphicke [MP for Dover]said: “First, the French don’t turn up to work, then they refuse to apologise for ruining Brits’ well-deserved holidays. “No wonder people are asking whether this is yet more anti-British behaviour from the French to punish us for leaving the EU.
“I’m really disappointed by Mr Gontier. How was this allowed to happen He’s responsible as the chief. He has questions to answer.”
A Port of Dover source added: “It’s clear Mr Gontier is not a fan of Brexit.”
It isn't Brexit per se it's just one man who hates Brexit who is culpable

Every single passport has to be stamped now. That's at the insistence of the British. An average car in the queue contains 3.5 people and it takes 80 to 90 seconds to stamp all of their passports - that's versus a few seconds to wave them all through before Brexit, which is what typically happened.
This was also predictable and warned about.
Why do people expect the French to employ five times the number of border staff, so that we who voted for Brexit can go through at the same speed as before Brexit? Especially when those staff would only be needed on a few weekends a year. It's wholly unreasonable to expect.
We voted for Brexit, we have to put up with the consequences - blaming the French, or anybody else, is just avoiding responsibility for our own choices and actions.

Where did you get that from? What business is it of the British if other countries stamp passports or not - and furthermore why on earth would another country bother to comply - if indeed it's true? It make no sense. Many countries don't bother stamping passports.

the British insisted on abandoning the privileges of EU membership, including being waved through at the border. France is now on the EU border and they're guarding it. Nobody's being prevented from crossing the border, but they now have to be checked.
I expect it's the dastardly French causing holiday holdups (and lost luggage) at British airports too?

The French have to stamp the passports, under EU law not French, because the British insisted on becoming third country nationals. This was all entirely predictable and indeed was predicted. For more on third country nationals, see

It is really rather childish, and not at all helpful, to blame others for the predictable consequences of our own actions.

JDavis and Ellipsis are of course correct, every major news/media source covering the story all concurred with each other.
I said as much yesterday in that it’s not their(French) fault that they are implementing rules that we insisted on as part of Brexit, but Naomi has to question everything again because she can’t accept facts.
