There’s more vacancies than people out of work ,Liz Truss when she came to power said benefits would be reduced if it’s proven that the claimant wasn’t actively seeking work, she’s now facing a rebellion with calls for an increase for those on benefits

Most of the people on benefits are not out of work.
They have poorly paid jobs and and not enough hours.

For example, Supermarkets employ about 3 million people, and the majority of those will be claiming some benefit.

Gromit I agree but there’s also some who’ve never looked for gainful employment also? It’ll be a mammoth task to separate those from the people you mention
Absolutely not. The benefits system is abused by too many.
Some people with incapacities are unable to work. Benefit claimants who have opted for a life on the dole must be a tiny minority.
There's about 1.5 million pensioners who receive pension credit...though more are eligible. According to the government website another 850,000 are eligible.

£11billion paid in benefits to supermarket workers. And it is not the only sector paying low wages.

Sandy ,a tiny minority? you see them in every town and city outside the bars having a fag so I’m not sure it is a tiny minority
MissTerious...what of pensioners?
From what I've read, I'm still not sure Truss is going to honour the previous governments promised triple lock increase...which rises according to inflation. Think I've got that right...

Pasta I made the mistake of having a small private pension so I get nothing at all
Question Author
I agree with that Pasta, I’m a bit dubious whether the triple lock as promised, will be carried out
There are plenty of stories of pensioners missing out by a couple of ££.
BOBBI, "Sandy ,a tiny minority? you see them in every town and city outside the bars having a fag so I’m not sure it is a tiny minority"

What like do benefit claimants look or are they forced to wear a badge so they stand out?
Question Author
So Gromit are you saying it’s not seen where you live? Okayyyy
A packet of cigarettes costs close to £15 now and a pint can set you back £6 in some bars.
People on benefits could hardly afford those prices.

You appear badly out of touch with reality.

There are less than 1 million unemployed (the lowest for nearly 50 years, despite a rise in the population).
But there are 10 million people on benefits.
The vast majority are pensioners.
As with any means-tested benefit or contributory JSA, where a private pension is taken into account, there is a limit on income.

If the excess is a penny a week or twenty pound, there's no entitlement.

So anyone outside a bar in town having a fag is a benefit claimant?? I doubt this is a way to prove it.
The system is flawed, Better monitored it would give those who need it more money and those who scrounge zilch.

Like the new system they’ve just ditched, to give the wealthiest in society the most benefit from their disastrous ideas?
Even now they answer when questioned about benefits.
This graphic is 9 years old (I cannot find a similar up to date one) so the figures will be out of date, but it illustrates who gets the benefits. Compare the JSA number with the pensioners number.
