How Long Will Truss Last?

In light of everything that’s happening, how much longer will the Parliamentary Party tolerate her?

A government that has barely begun is confronted by open questions about its imminent end.
That is the astonishing truth at Westminster, so spectacularly has Liz Truss cratered her authority with her own MPs.
In the short term, she seeks to salvage her premiership and her programme for government, or at least any parts of it that can command the confidence of her party and the financial markets.
Her critics say waiting until the end of the month to announce her plans is unsustainable.
Meanwhile Tory MPs speculate about her future and that of the chancellor.
Could Kwasi Kwarteng be the fall guy for the chaos, some ask.
Could he be sacked, or resign?
"The thing is, if she does that she removes a lightning rod, and you know what happens then? The lightning will hit her instead," one MP sceptical of that idea said.

One MP present said the attack came from education committee chair Robert Halfon, who said that, in a matter of days,
the new PM had wrecked a decade of efforts to extend the party's appeal to the blue-collar working-class by offering tax breaks for the rich and welfare cuts.
One Conservative MP told The
Independent that there was
"a robust exchange of views"
- code for a row inside the behind-closed-doors meeting.
Asked if Ms Truss had won over any of her critics, the MP replied: "Probably not"
And a former minister told The
Independent:
"It was horrific. She's not
going anywhere but she can't survive."
I’d say she’s got maybe a week to save her premiership, but absolutely no clue how she does it whilst presently losing all credibility?
Any Tory voters/faithful got an opinion on how long she stays or how she survives?

// Her problem is that the parliamentar y Tory party didn't want her; they wanted Sunak. // While that's true, I don't think that's her *main* problem. The problem is instead that she seemed instantly to forget this, and instead decided to appoint a cabinet of loyalists. That was already a serious miscalculati on. If as a PM your own Parliamentar y Party...

I sincerely hope so Naomi. I put what I thought of her in another thread of fatticus' she has been known to us for years as being useless. She's a local mp. As I said before, We now have a useless prime minister, a useless government and a useless opposition. We are in a mess. But who in europe isnt?

//Jim, why are you coming on here and talking sense, rather than all the sniping which has permeated threads recently?
Mushroom, I think you can be sure BBC News Channel at least will cover any statement.//
Absolutely! How very dare he post a succinct, reasoned, well-written yet damning summation?

Never said I was a dyed in the wool Tory voter. Perhaps I am a disillusioned labour voter. Blair brown was the last straw for me. Well done sir Tony you really deserved that knighthood, NOT. But I have argued that labour in power would be worse. However, I am forced to admit that the current mess could not be worse than Keer and the gang, and the behaviour of the parliamentary party is unforgivable and it may have been avoidable.
I have posted elsewhere that I thought the party membership had “done a milliband” by selecting the wrong leader, now i think they may have “done a Corbin”

Lol, in the same way that I’m a unicorn you mean?
The link earlier told us who you are and what you’re about, you made it pretty clear.
I mean, who on earth would’ve even voted for Truss anyway??
They had their chances with Tugendhat and Mordaunt but went for Continuity Johnson.
It was always going to end in tears.

Fatty. With Starmer as leader and the awful Rayner as deputy and the standard of labour ministers I observe, then I think I have a good idea. I voted Lib Dem for years before it all went wrong. So I shall happily stay at home if there's another election because they are all as bad as each other. No standards any more!
Fatticus, it's understandable if Tories want Truss out far more urgently than, say, Labour supporters would. She's trashing their brand.
That said I was amazed at King Charles III saying dear or dear when she dropped by the other day. He has a long way to go before he learns to zip his lip as his mother did.

I did opine at the time that he was maybe commenting on her second dreadful attempt at a curtsy?! Lol

When Labour politicians sink to the level of certain Tory MP’s and government(especially over the last 3 years) I’d say you have a point.
Until they do, you haven’t.
Plus one more vote won’t be needed in the forthcoming predicted landslide.
