i have been watching him on BBC breakfast, it's heartbreaking.

what a terrible thing is MND - cruel and mind numbing.

I remember in the 70s hearing about this brilliant physicist, Stephen Hawking, who had MND. Then doctors reckoned he had a couple of years to live. Hawking continued his stunning career for decades longer, having insights on Black Holes and writing popular science books like A Brief History of Time.

indeed, but for all the success of Hawking, and Rob, its a terrible disease and one that has no cure.

The husband of one of my cousin's had one of the variants, ALS. He was full of life, always a smile on his face, the first to get the grannies up dancing at parties. Truly tragic to see him hunched up in a wheelchair.

Steven Hawking was in a Stavros wheel chair when I was a student
( Stavros - Dr Who, yeah?)
and then stopped progressing
sort of for around 25 y - and no one knew why. It is usually a constant descent but at difft rates in dfft pts

The million pounds he got from his book helped and allowed him to hire private nursing care 24 h - and divorce his wife who used to insist on sitting by his bed and reading the NT to him.
