Not yet confirmed by No 10, but if this is true then that's a massive shock.

It's high time that Tories, like me, admitted that this is the biggest political *up in generations. No more excuses, no more having a go at Labour.

(Putin has seized on this as a good time to bury news of martial law in annexed areas of Ukraine)
At least jno I can't be accused of dragging the conversation away from the govt to my favourite topic :-)
We have to have a General election now.

This is not democratic at all. Shapps and Hunt - God help us.
ah, that makes sense, jim. A pretext no doubt; but way too many Tories have been doing stupid things that make them hostages to fortune. This morning it was Jason Stein.
But now you've mentioned it: it's the sort of thing he would hardly want to bury, but rather trumpet.
It's a pretty meaningless move. Like declaring naturism legal in a shower room ...
The Teiegraph is saying she’s leaving after multiple policy disagreements with Truss.

//Do you think Suella is a loony, ich?//

Ooh Miss, Miss, can I answer that one please Miss?! Lol

Safe to say that right now it's unclear. Sky changed their story a couple of times. Possibly multiple factors involved -- a breach of the Ministerial Code is not necessarily a sackable offence in the present Government, but if there were some other point of dispute then Truss might have felt there was no choice, and anyway it was convenient.

Either way, clear that Truss has no grip. It's sad watching this, frankly -- especially because I can't see how any Tory PM can plausibly call an Election -- it'd be suicide.
This really is the end, this is a government in the midst of complete and utter chaos of their own making.
But I daresay someone will blame the opposition and the tofu-eating wokerati….?
Not overly surprised, she seemed to be being sidelined. But the situation has managed to go from bad to worse, which has to be a surprise to those who thought that the government had already reached rock bottom.
She is an "ideologue" lets put it that way.
I still say, odd as it may seem, that the Tories can save this by parachuting in Sunak and starting again. Pretending what happened before was all a nightmare and let's wake up to reality.
Probably won't work but the way it is now it is a sure-fire disaster.

Resignation letter makes clear that there were two reasons. The main one is evidently a minor security breach, but that's unacceptable from a Home Secretary so it's still enough to cause resignation even if minor. But the second part of the letter expresses Braverman's "concerns" about the direction of Government. So there clearly *was* a policy clash, and then it's remarkable to fire that shot across the bow.
///Sky’s Sam Coates says he has been told that Suella Braverman was sacked in relation to an “honest mistake” involving an email being on a private phone.

UPDATE: Coates says he has been told there were two reasons for Braverman’s departure. He says one problem was that she had shared secure infomation on a private phone. In other words, she broke the rules on handling confidential information. He says he does not know the other reasons.///

OIh, he will be parachuted in.

This is nothing more than a coup.
Question Author
Very messy, no doubt -- but is a political coup any more problematic than allowing the most ineffectual and incapable PM in recent history to stay on?
Meanwhile the Vikings have landed at Dover .

Has anyone in government noticed ?
The Civil service didnt like her or anything she stood for.

The whole Government/Blob is a stinking mess.

A load of people need to be fired starting with the 650 useless lumps in the HoC and start again.
//ineffectual and incapable PM in recent history to stay on?//

The problem is you only say that because that is what has been fed to you.

She has not been in the job long enough to see one way or another. And there was not a massive amount wrong with the budget, the City didnt like it because growth policies make it hard to make short term cash. She may well have proved to be useless but she was being stabbed before she even took office.

I'm sorry but the whole thing stinks.
