Richi Sunak's plan to abandon the "Triple lock" for state pensions should trigger an early General Election.
Sunak has U turned on the Conservative pledge made by Liz Truss to keep the Triple Lock .Which requires pensions to rise with inflation. This is a decision being made by the Multi Millionaire Prime Minister who struts about Downing St wearing his £3,500 suits. Will the state pensioners vote Tory this time .... No Chance.

//Pensioners wanted lock down and got it,...// Not all of them, youngmaf. In fact, I believe the majority of people who were happy with the lockdown were young and middle-aged professionals. They were able to retreat to their homes, no more travelling to work and they could stay their whilst other poor sods who were not able to do likewise fetched and carried...

I agree Dave but he has often said he lives abroad but has never said where. I think he's full of BS, he takes far too much interest in UK issues for an ex pat.
The general suspicion is that he sits in is mums attic, walls covered in posters of Boris, bashing out BS on the keyboard.

UK State pension one of the lowest in Europe. After a life time of work.
Rishi Sunak trying to stop it increasing.
Liz Truss after just 44 days work.£115,000 P.A for life. Plus a pension.
....Just greed....
What's the state pension like where you live, Gully? And why are you bothered about ours?
I don’t give a damn where he lives as long he could substantiate his wild claims , he can’t

Wow as Boris said.....When the herd moves, seems to apply to this post.
Unlike a simple change of leader, this 'should' trigger an election because it would represent a big deviation from their manifesto commitments, so they no longer have a mandate.

However, as Naomi said, it obviously won't.

No govt is ever going to call an election that they're not sure they can win, unless they have to.
tomus: "No govt is ever going to call an election that they're not sure they can win, unless they have to. " - yep, ain't rocket is it?
should trigger an early General Election. " - says who?

I theenk he means 'ardda' - as in ought to but wont

even the demented OAPs remember no moolah
and will vote in Labour at the next

the rest of his OP may be true but reeks ( reeks dahling reeks) of the politics of ency
//Liz Truss after just 44 days work.£115,000 P.A for life.//
very missleading as discussed lots... its a max amount she could reclaim for actual costs incurred as an ex PM, just like May, Cameron, Blair, Brown, Johnson, Major
However, as Naomi said, it obviously won't.
more crazy stuff on tv today
we voted for a prime minister and not a party - - erm sorry you voted for the candidate in your aread - I mean honestly!

the pension is lowest in Europe because we are low tax in comparison, BUT we have not had the growth low taxation is meant to be associated with

(PP muses trying to lift this discussion out of the gutter)
Dutch tax when I was finking of going was 60%
no I cannot say if that were marginal ( last 10% taxed at 60 or the whole lot)

250 000 florins a year BUT it worked out that working at tescos in Bolton gave more disposable income
//(PP muses trying to lift this discussion out of the gutter) //

Should we be grateful? :o)

In the 2019 election manifesto the Cons said they would keep the triple lock system in place for the duration of this government .I don't know if many of you have noticed but the Cons are still in Government . Just about, even though they're hanging on by the skin of their teeth.
The triple lock IS still in place.
Sunak (via Hunt) may ditch the triple lock in the Nov 17th fiscal statement ... or he may not. He has so far refused to comment.

All we have today is fluff from clickbait producers (both on AB and in the wider media).
They dropped it last year - pensioners didn't get an increase which matched pay rises.
Bazile
But you all respond , don't you
______________

Very rarely.
Very brief when I do.

the title of this thread paints an odd image lol

But when the triple lock is removed that's when the con party will be removed, by the pensioners.
