Slow day on Twitter so thought I’d give this place a go. Is it as Tory on here as it seems?// " - no it's mainly assorted lefties having a go at the government and a sprinkling of remoaners who are desperate to surrender to the EUSSR.
And having read some of te replies on here, it's patently obvious that some on here have absolutely no idea about some of the things ambulance crews have to deal with on a daily basis.
Huderon, I don’t see any evidence of that, of course we all know that being a ambulance driver/ paramedics deals with all kinds of scenarios ,but what some are failing to see is there isn’t any money for inflation busting pay increases, there’s been a pandemic , fuel prices etc , the government are giving everyone here in England ( I don’t know what’s happening elsewhere) help with their fuel bills and have increased the WFPs,what more do people want of them?
I think the Government has been quite generous re fuel payments, as I wrote on another thread:
£150 - rebate through Council Tax in May
£650 - as a 'one-off payment', actually paid in two instalments, July/November
£500 - Winter Fuel Payment in November/December (OAPs)
£400 - off electricity bill, paid in monthly instalments from October
£150 - Warm Home Discount (if eligible) in December
That comes to £1,850 for those eligible to all above.
//That comes to £1,850 for those eligible to all above.//
and £650 of that is for folks over pension age!
Oh! the hypocrisy of all the pot bashes with their rainbow signs for the NHS -now they are telling them to tighten their belts and take what is in effect a 10% wage cut in real terms.
//According to Mick Lynch, management could easily fund it from the previous year's profit of 500 million pounds.//
Couple of problems there, you cant take the whole profit otherwise all the investors will go elsewhere and you will have a major problem.
The other big problem with that statement is that if fails to recognise where the extra will come from in the future, and for some that could be for 40 odd years.
And 400m is not a huge amount anyway for companies of that size.
//Why will Shapps not let the train operators talk to their own employees ?//
Possibly because (as above) he is no longer the transport secretary. But whoever is, probably has it in mind that the taxpayer is meeting approximately two-thirds of the costs of running the railways.
Who said something about people wanting more? Was it Nadeem Zahawi claiming the 6 thousand pounds on expenses to keep his horses stable warm? Poor mites must have suffered terribly.

Yes It is 99% Tory on this site. Spearheaded by the Usual Gang who are so dyed in the wool the men have to visit the sheep shearers instead of the hairdressers, and the women make do with Blue rinses and ,
...........".When the herd moves it moves"...Good Luck...
The Government are not employing the train drivers, the Train Operators are.
The Government might decide how much subsidy the Train Operators get, but the Train Operators decide what they spend it on. The Government are not allowing them to so.
Unacceptable intrusion by the Government, and deliberately hampering a settlement. And for no other reason than to wave their union bashing credencials and keep sycophants like TTT with a contented happy smirk on their faces.
gromit: "And for no other reason than to wave their union bashing credencials and keep sycophants like TTT with a contented happy smirk on their faces. " - mission accomplished!
Just hearing about the greedy Border staff taking industrial action for 8 days over Christmas. Will they get a verbal kicking too for sticking up for themselves? Looks like a pattern emerging but it seems there’s only one common denominator.
yes common denominator of jumping on the bandwagon and knowing seeing a govt that has lost much of its support - and knowing that while private sector staff know that they can price thereselves out of a job if employers cant afford it the public sector staff can always argue the goverment- thats us the taxpayers' = has unlimited funds
