What with Harry's extraordinary attack on his brother and Meghan's take on Meghan being perfection personified, can the rift ever be healed?

Harry spoke quite wistfully, I thought, of his life with his family, an impression that didn’t diminish when he referred to his Californian residence as 'home sweet home' and said this is where he is meant to be, or words to that effect. Somehow I couldn't quite believe he meant it. It's all so very sad.

Nor me, lottie.

Margo, you’re right. She was a member of the aristocracy.
Same here fitdarren, except I have to feel a bit sorry for him because he doesn't seem to be ver bright. He looked very spaced out at times!
Awful with the loss of his Mother I feel sad for him on that front.
To me though that lads always being a bit non-plussed
Margo - // Naomi I didn't say Diana was royal, all I said was that she was not exactly a commoner having been born into the aristocracy //

Indeed not - if you trace the Spencer line back through history, it is more directly connected back to Henry VIII than King Charles.
the whole scenario illustrates how absurd and cruel the system of monarchy is
The lad in him has gone. He doesn't seem happy. Not the cheeky chappy he was. I know he's married with kids now but I feel something is wrong. She's very much the actress and seeks the limelight. I do doubt her honesty. My opinion anyway from what I witnessed
i do not fully understand the allegations that megan and harry make about the royal family because talking about how “the palace” responds to xyz in the media makes me lose the will to live and that seems to be most of it…

… i imagine it must be really serious for NJ to call him “despicable wretch” and for people to say they cannot stand him…
Hello Andy. We need you to take this to 700 posts just to please Bazile. Joking of course ;0)

Cruel untitled? Why?
Even though she was a member of the aristocracy, Diana was still considered a commoner insofar as she was not of royal birth.

Technically, Meghan is a princess since she is married to a prince. I believe on Archie's birth certificate she is shown as "Princess of the United Kingdom". However, since her husband has a royal dukedom she is known as a Duchess (a royal dukedom outranks a Prince). Were they to be stripped of the Sussex titles she would be Princess Henry. The Princess of Wales was still a princess before being PoW for the same reasons, despite the fact she had the title of Duchess.

I really did have a lot of time for them at first and I did feel she got a raw deal by the press (if the DoC did something it was marvellous, whereas if the DoS did the same it was scorned). However, she has now turned this into a proper whinge fest based on racism (I never saw her as a woman of colour, I saw her as someone H loved) and other imagined slights. I cant help thinking that the way she has been treated is a reaction to the way she has behaved - not because she is of colour (her mother, for example, save for her involvement in this docufantasy has been dignified and gracious and I have always admired her) but because of her bleating self-obsessed, narcissistic, demanding way of conducting herself. She's also full of BS and the story changes to suit the agenda.

I think the King has behaved with remarkable restraint. I understand he will not tolerate anyone making negative remarks about his son. But he is a father first and King second. He must be very very weary of all this and very very sad that his younger son seems intent on a path of destruction that even his ex-wife would not go down. I do not imagine Diana would be proud of the way her youngest has behaved.
perhaps the time has come to import a few fine guillotines and put them to use… then we can all relax and not get so steamed about the royals
cruel in that it dragoons people into a complicated and dehumanising system by virtue of their birth and nothing else while lavishing centuries worth of unearned privilege wealth and ritual on them

Barmaid, only those of royal blood are princesses. That’s why Kate wasn’t a Princess until William became Prince of Wales. Meghan is not a Princess - even though she may have opted to style herself as such.
^ I'm guessing you're not in their fan club.
* that was for Untitled, sorry Naomi
i would suggest that being born into royalty and consequently the public eye from childhood alongside insane levels of wealth and privilege is not likely to cause someone to develop into a psychologically healthy and well adjusted human being

I guessed that, ark. :o)

They’re free to give it all up. How is that cruel?
Whatever happens he is never going to be cold or hungry.
they are in principal free to turn it down (and well done to those who manage to do that) but are indoctrinated into the institution from a young age… the pressure to conform is immense
The RF is not composed of very intelligent individuals. They've been selected over the generations for reproductive ability, longevity and willingness to tolerate a world where they are subordinate to a democratic government. They do all that quite well, but it can be hard on individual members if they turn out not to have the right qualities.
