//I'd be more than happy to see the 'civil liberties' of anyone trying to get here from China being curtailed.//
Why? It's scarcely their fault they are under a despotic regime that they can do nothing about except take to the streets and probably get machine gunned down is it?
But that really isn't the point. This country is now supposed to be living with Covid and behaving normally. It is not normal to routinely test visitors for a disease with an extremely low death rate, from which most of the population has a good degree of protection.
//I'm sure there's a lot more happening in China than we are being told.//
Yes, one of my nephews lives there, but Covid is only the tip of the iceberg.
No point in stopping restrictions, the World must live with it and natural immunity should be allowed to thrive. As many said in the first place, including BJ.
I can still remember as though it were yesterday of being called a ‘Covidiot’, a ‘Granny-killer’, selfish, and various other things, for having the bare-faced temerity of saying locking down the country and paying people to sit on their backsides is a mistake and would have far-reaching economic consequences…and guess what?
There is though a difference between sensible precautions to liit the strain on hospitals, and pointless attempts to limit the spread of the virus by restricting travel.
The Chinese would appear to have completely messed up: draconian restrictions which simply stored up problems for the future, then relaxing them at completely the wrong time.
They are giving a good a impression of not knowing that they are doing.
