So It Was A Fake . . . .
. . . . or was it ? How can we be confident she's telling the truth now. Will this help restore Andrew to the ranks of the righteous?

That he coughed up a previously reported £12 million - which now seems to have been reduced by the media to £3 million - indicates to me an effort to halt bad publicity in its tracks - which of course it didn't. Poorly advised, possibly too full of himself to take advice, by coughing up so readily he shot himself firmly in the foot. There's a possibility that he doesn't remember her - but a crime - no. An idiot - yes - but no one can, with good conscience, blame him for trying to get his life back together. Wouldn't we all?
hypothetically if a senior royal like Andrew actually did commit a crime like rape would they ever get prosecuted for it?
i doubt it. I think what would happen is that there would be a huge amount of downplaying and obfuscation, the victim's credibility would be ruthlessly attacked and all the evidence would be dismissed as fake

Which is pretty much what's happening.
Especially on here, where the usual suspects are bending over backwards to trash Ms Guiffre's character and motives, while simultaneously trying to underline the fact that Prince Andrew has committed no crime - under UK law anyway, so that appears to make it alright.
They do this whilst grudgingly conceding, because the evidence is too plentiful to do otherwise, that he is a repugnant human being, but he really hasn't done anything 'wrong' so it's time to let him slide back into public life.
If Andrew is right, as claims he is, let him go to court and let the legal system judge him.
Of course, he does start from the singular disadvantage of having paid a huge amount of money to avoid court in the first place, which must be seen as a peculiar response from an innocent man.

yeah
be you ever so high - - ( Ld Denning)
Anne had a dog which bit a wee mite, and she was fined ( truly fined, criminal court, judgie baby etc) for having a dog dangerously not under control ( or sumfing). straight there handcuffs etc
BUT - Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria Hungary at age 60, had his evil way with a young leddy that had aroused his passions. Leddy complained and half the Vienna court took the germanic view that she should have felt honoured....( around 1890)
AND - Bertie's ( future Edw VII, silly) mess clubbed together for young leddy to attend Bertie for the first time !!!!
Albair heard of this from a gossiping courtier so hiked darn to wherever to reprove him (B), and caught the cold on the way back. This turned to Typhoid ( this was 1862 remember) from which Albert the Great expired, AND - - - Victoria never let Bertie forget that he had killed his father with his wayward and wick behavioour.

// Andy, I think there could be a connection between Epstein's yacht, Andrew and Meghan Markle.
I didn't read Harry's book but I think there was some mention of Meghan being a yacht girl in it and there have been rumours she was probably on Epteins yacht and probably met Andrew back then. //
I think this is extremely unlikely.
Previous to her meeting Harry, Meghan's career is pretty much documented, and I can't see her as needing the money enough to involve herself in Epstein's seedy world.
I suspect this is simply media teasing, to keep the scandal going, and I would pay it no attention.
If Meghan had anything like this in her past, our relentless friends in the media would have found it by now.

Charles Moore (whom God preserve) writing in today's Telegraph says;
'Don’t assume that Prince Andrew is in the wrong,
The burden of proof must never be reversed – even for royals'
'.... Now that Ms Giuffre has dropped a claim of sexual assault against the famous American lawyer Alan Dershowitz, saying she “may have made a mistake”, the Duke is said to be thinking of reopening the out-of-court settlement he made with her. In it, he never accepted liability, but paid her money anyway. At the time, he was under pressure to settle in order to avoid overshadowing the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Now that his mother is, sadly, dead, he may feel freer to fight.
I have no idea whether the Duke is wise to consider this course: it might simply involve him in yet more expense and obloquy. But I do sense that he may have right on his side.'
Here, here ! & that photo is definitely a fraud.

bit late for that, the-And ( I have to distinguish clearly the lovely Andy from the besmirched, dirty, child molesting Randy One, or else Doris the Deleter will be after me)
he has signed a doo-dah INSTEAD of a court case, so at present there is a block that he has to get over. He cant really go back and say without agreement that he now wants something that he has excluded.
and who wiv 12 mill in her pocket ( said she wd give it to Charity and HASN'T!) is gonna agree to go to court

Yacht girls are usually actresses and models who have fallen on hard times and need the money.
There is a photo out there of some girls lined up on a yacht one of them is supposed to be MM, but it's quite likely that was also photoshopped. I think it will all come out in the wash eventually.

Of course, none of us can know, either what has actually gone on, or what Prince Andrew is thinking, so we are all free to speculate freely, as we are doing once again.
My own interpretation of the events thus far, is that far from 'distracting from the Jubilee', as the excuse given for Andrew settling, I think it far more likely that for once, he actually took sensible advice from his legal counsel.
That advice being that he stood a very good chance of losing the case, and an absolute certainty of having some of the more unpleasant aspects of his behaviour revealed to the world, and he would be advised to avoid court at all costs - pun intended.
Now that the reality of life as an outcast is starting to bite, it is possible that Andrew's default arrogance and stupidity is again in the driving seat, and he is foolishly chasing after something that is actually gone forever - his good name and reputation.
I think he believes that, if he wins his case, his record is expunged, and he becomes a wonderful popular royal again.
Since that is something he never actually was in the first place, that's a tall ask, but he is stupid and arrogant enough to think that this will be the outcome.
We shall see ...

Yes, I am aware of the 'yacht girl' set-up, but there are two reasons why I believe Meghan was not involved.
The first and most obvious, is that any number of women involved in this sad and seedy environment, who knew Meghan at the time, would have sold her story for a lot of money to any number of media outlets.
And secondly, Meghan was busy earning a seven-figure salary from her time in the TV series 'Suits' which will have been filming since around 2010, so again she is unlikely to have entered Epstein's orbit, at least that particular part of it anyway.

Photo of yacht girls, MM on the far right. This could easily be fake as well.

Barsel - // Don't forget MM is 41 yrs old and I think she was only in Suits for a couple of years.
I'm sure that at some point in her life, she would have wanted to earn money any way she can. //
If memory serves, Megan was in suits for around six series, and will have amassed an eight-figure salary pot in that time.
But a stronger factor is the simple fact that anything and everything in Meghan's past is up for sale - if there is anything to sell.
