I read about this terrible incident this morning - one bad cop is a scary concept but five of them beating a young man to death is beyond my understanding.

In the USA where the Police are concerned colour is nothing to do with the brutality. OK, with some it no doubt compounds it but the underlying issue is the brutality and the belief they will get away with it. Probably because they usually do.

In my mind this is murder, lets hope the sentences reflect this. How they are out on bail is beyond me, but the US seem to do this all the time.

US police as an institution are far far more likely to do this to people who are not white regardless of the colour of the cops... they are still participants in a racist institution
