Rubbish. "Transwomen" are no more or less dangerous than any other man. That women may not feel comfortable with them I'm vulnerable situations- is purely common sense. Would you honestly tell your daughters "all men are safe, don't worry"... or think that wearing a dress makes a difference somehow?

it advocated for legal recognition of trans people and for reassignment surgery for those who needed it... the institute was closed down by the nazis immediately after they gained power and the contents of its library were burned... the extremely limited rights gained by trans Germans were revoked because the nazis decreed that trans people were a threat to German purity...

this year the german parliament dedicated its annual remembrance of holocaust victims to those persecuted for sexual orientation or gender identity for the first time...

Do you think the "kind" thing to do, for people who suggest they are trans... is to encourage them to have lifechanging surgery, sterilise themselves and have to live a lie. Would it not be better- to just allow people to be individuals- without having to pretend- or be beaten up, because they don't follow stereotypes?

treating gender dysphoria with gender-affirming therapy (which you describe with an extremely negative spin here) is clinically proven to reduce the rate of suicide among trans people so yeah i do think it's the best treatment available

When you say i had no idea that the allies kept the same laws in place which prevented these people from seeking help as victims of nazism, do you mean the Allies declined to amend the German Penal Code? Or do you mean the UK opted to keeps its laws on homosexuality intact?

Homosexuality was entirely illegal in the UK until 1967 and discrimination involving homosexual activity prevailed until as recently as 2013.

I'm not sure what it is you were unaware of.

However,we are now pretty much using the words transsexual and transgender- interchangeably. What are your views on that?

When in Berlin a few years ago I visited a memorial to the LGBT community. It was very plain - a concrete box with a small window. There were photos and a short video that you could watch. Sobering because I knew little about this.

As far as I can see, para 175 was allowed to remain in effect was because the statute had been part of the German criminal code before the Nazi era and wasn't, therefore per se a Nazi law.
