How long have those people been waiting for surgery? How many may well now die without it? I hope they are proud of themselves. Unions are an enemy of the state.

As for the cancelled operations can you provide figures of cancellations before strikes and before Covid just so we can get a full picture?

as I pointed out in another thread, 40,000 nurses just left the NHS last year. The real enemies of state are the people not willing to pay enough to get the NHS functioning.

The nhs waiting list has been steadily getting worse for years. The blamed covid, and now they want to blame the Unions.
But the current wait has nowt to do with the odd strike, and is more to do with years of diminishing money and political mismanagement.

According to the report the figures relate to the strike day. Nothing to do with Covid … just strikes.

JNO, the government chucks money at the NHS. It is not underfunded but it is poorly managed. This isn’t about that either.

I don't think that unions are needed in the same way that they were in the past. I've walked through a picket line on more than one occasion.

That said, these people have no other way of expressing their desire for changes in the conditions of their employment and their pay.

I don't suppose that they have taken the decision to strike lightly. They have no other options.

If we were all to pay more into the running of the country, tax increases, then we will be able to pay for the services that we need. Better health service ( although money is only a small part of the problem) and more police officers would be a start.
