I have nothing against horse racing - far from it: although I'm not that interested in it, I agree with most of the comments in support of it.
I did watch yesterday's race but every year I like it less. It's a bit of a freak show really: the Cheltenham Gold Cup on steroids, with more horses, bigger jumps, longer course, and of course everyone has a flutter on whatever horse they hope will survive (literally) much further than the first fence. "The people's race" is a term I have heard more often in recent times.
I personally would shed no tears if it was binned, despite also having little time for many of the protesters.
