Does anyone ponder why so many British passport holding Sudanese are in Sudan?
One chap on the front page of today's Telegraph is weeping because he had left his wife & son there when he boarded the plane.

He is described as a taxi-driver; I was wondering how a British taxi-driver can afford the time & money to take his family for a visit to Sudan, - any ideas please?

I think if British passport holders choose to live in an unstable dangerous place like Sudan, they should bear the consequences. I'm already fed up hearing about this, and think the warring factions should be left to get on with it - nothing to do with us anymore

I think if these British passport holders are on holiday, then yes bring them home. But those residing there .............leave them. They chose to live in an unstable country.

A slight change regarding the farming but he was not a taxi-driver on holiday.

I wonder why, for a British passport-holding national with job opportunities in Britain, would want to take his family to farm in Sudan?

Is Sudanese farming, (surely subsistence level?) vis-à-vis British taxi-driving a great career move?

WHY? If you choose to live in a country long-term surely you accept it with all its plusses and minuses not go scurrying for a safe(r) haven if something happens that you don't like.

KHANDRO, the man used to drive a bus not a taxi and there could be any number of reasons why he chose to move to the Sudan.

He has been there for eight year but wanted out because of the fighting which does not appear to be an unreasonable desire.
