Does anyone ponder why so many British passport holding Sudanese are in Sudan?
One chap on the front page of today's Telegraph is weeping because he had left his wife & son there when he boarded the plane.

He is described as a taxi-driver; I was wondering how a British taxi-driver can afford the time & money to take his family for a visit to Sudan, - any ideas please?

YNNAFYMMI, how many Scots are there in Sudan?
One think I DO know - I would put being with my family through thick and thin before saving by own worthless hide!
“ He may have a British passport but he wants them all to live in Sudan where he prefers to be, eschewing British life & benefits (maybe ?) ”

and therefore… what? he has committed treason in your eyes by not living in the UK? he’s not welcome in england because he chose not to live there for a few years?

what a pathetic, hateful and reductionist view of the world… people spend time abroad for all kinds of reasons. it does not mean they “reject” the UK.

a friend of mine is a joint israeli-british citizen and frequently spends years at a stretch in one or other country… it is part of the modern world.
“ I would put being with my family through thick and thin before saving by own worthless hide!”

and what if you were separated against your will? it happens all the time in these situations.
@15.44 I think there is a few at the fake SNP embassy there. Why do you ask?
untitled - you're on a loser (as usual) just drop it
lol standard “i have no answer” answer :)

maybe you should think before advocating for evil and inhumane actions toward other people
what? he has committed treason in your eyes by not living in the UK?

er we Do know hwaving a british passport does NOT give you residence. You need right of abode or whatever it has mutated to.

Moy Mudda - born Bombay 1909 ( gues which empire) had a British passport and did NOT have a right of residence. But I agree the terms of the 1947 British Nationality Act is special - children of the Empire had to choose British or Indian. what as a white Indian? yup. One or the other

British Israeli is a total red herring - if youare a jew yo have right of return. Ethiopians as the remnants of the twelfth tribe and all that.

but we knew all that innit
and were just being playful, and turning up cases we KNEW didnt apply - you nardy nardy ABers
Is it evil & inhumane not to help a chap abandon his family in a country where he chose to live for years? OK, I'm evil & inhumane, so sue me!
anyone who has a british passport has right of abode in the uk peter
Denning 1962 said that a british passport wasnt abritish passport or thereabouts - in those days it was patriality - not right of abode

not sure if this was original case.

untitled; //anyone who has a british passport has right of abode in the uk peter//

abode isn't the same as domicile
https://www.gov.uk/right-of-abode

“ Having right of abode means you’re allowed to live or work in the UK without any immigration restrictions, which means:

you will not need a visa to come to the UK
there’s no limit on the length of time you can spend in the country”
ynnafymmi you do witter a load of rowlocks. There is no such thing as an SNP passport, never mind an SNP embassy. Scots, English and Welsh will all hold British Passports no matter what country they come from.
YNNAFYMMI, "@15.44 I think there is a few at the fake SNP embassy there. Why do you ask?"

Where in Sudan is the "fake SNP embassy" based?

"In 2021 there were approximately 6.0 million people with non-British nationality living in the UK" (source: House of Commons Library)

... of course much higher now. They may all abide in the UK but don't have British passports as our man & seemingly all these other 'Ugandans' do.
Question Author
could ynnafymmi not be being slightly humorous? I think a few irony detectors need adjustment,
Well the SNP eejits do have a habit of forming fake embassies(at the English and Scottish taxpayers expense)here there and everywhere,so i thought they might have founded one out in shi...sorry,Sudan.
Thanks,Khandro.I do love winding up these SNP nationalists on here. Most of them couldnt point out Scotland on a map.
