"We still have those things and I would not want them curtailed "
well, you obviously do because if you didn't then you would support the right to protest for people you dislike.
"It ain't the Tories that are the new creeping fascism"
it is the tories who are wielding the power of the state to strip their political opponents of basic rights.

"they went equiped to disrupt, surely you can see that."
if you mean the Night Stars... no, they did not. they are out in central london all the time and one of their services is giving out rape alarms. possession of such a thing is not illegal and they should not have been arrested... frankly the activities of the Night Stars is of more actual importance than anything which happened in Westminster Abbey on Saturday. It was the King who was disrupting them not the other way around.

" I agree with legitimate protest. "
protests literally do not come more legitimate than the Republic one... they arranged it with the police and liaised with them for months... the "lock-on equipment" were loops of string they use on their placards (as is very common if you've ever made one)... there is no evidence at all that their "disruption" was to be anything other than being on whitehall and expressing their disapproval of the monarchy.
if that's too far for you then i am afraid you do not agree with legitimate protest... no protest could possibly meet your standards.

//…now anyone who seeks to protest peacefully will be subject to arrest...//
No they won’t. Read the new Act. Tell me where it mentions anybody protesting peacefully (which does not include gluing oneself to roads or trains or tunnelling under civil engineering works) will be subject to arrest. All that the new Act does is to describe what is not peaceful protest and includes measures to put a stop to those activities. It's only because, ludicrously, the things I mention were considered "peaceful" that the Act was necessary.

Which particular political opponents of the Tories are being stripped of their basic rights?

the act includes "serious distress" and "serious annoyance" as examples of the offense "intentionally or recklessly causing public nuisance"... it also empowers ministers - party politicians all of whom are presently Tory - to change these definitions at will... the relevant ministers thus have the power to treat any protest they dislike as criminal because it is "annoying" or "distressing" and are not accountable to parliament for doing so.

in this case... Republic
