...this will surely force more landlords to sell up and get out of the business. It's just too much aggravation being a landlord these days.

Maybe gulliver will sell up the houses he says he rents out now.
On the plus side, the people forking out the money will feel security in their home.
But rules for letting to refugees will be relaxed so landlords can make a mint renting to them and evict them willy nilly
Gromit, it can be a very long, difficult, expensive process to evict a tenant already, even when the landlord has good cause
Good.

I think untitled is of the standard left wing view that all landlords are rich B'stards exploiting the the poor serfs that have to rent off them.
If so then untitled is on the money.
My son is a landlord of two properties and certainly doesn't make a lot of money from the rental income. He made a big loss one year due to bad tenants who wrecked the house did a flit. He struggled for a few years to get back on an even keel.
He bought the houses cheaply and spent a lot of time and money bringing them up to standard. Both houses have good tenants who have been renting from him for a good few years now and he intends to keep them as long as possible but with the mortgage increases he is only just breaking even. He has offered to sell the houses to the tenants but they aren't in a position to.
Not all landlords are evil.
^Or rich!

that's ok barry because clearly he getting rich on the backs of the poor . All landlords are like Rackman according to the left.
I can't speak for England but in NI there needs to be more protection against bad landlords who do not do maintenance but collect money every month
What has Gulliver got to do with this topic ?
nothing annea - silly comment that should be removed by a MOD on duty
TTT, hopefully he'll get the benefit when he retires and has the properties to sell. I couldn't be a landlord, far too stressful.
Question Author
Yep, I'm out of that game barry, err indoors has one left but I think this may well persuade her to flog it.
what part of the reforms do you disagree with Tora?
anneasquith, if you had read the thread that the TTT put up and knew that gulliver says he rents out properties in the UK you would know that it may affect him so no need for a mod to remove my silly post as Red Helen put it.
shedman with respect that user is not on this thread and dragging him into it appears to be a tad silly hence my response
I was just stating what gulliver has put on here a couple of times. It is no more silly as you call it than when others put threads on and don't answer any questions that are put to them him included. By the way I am entitled to an opinion and also there is nothing in it which means there is no reason for it to be removed.
Question Author
RH: "what part of the reforms do you disagree with Tora? " - well it's the headline really but it's the general forcing of landord's to have pets, kids etc, further tightening of the straight jacket. Tenants are protected by their contracts anyway. If a landlord needs the place then he should be able to take possession of his own possession without having to jump through a load of hoops. The current rental market is so heavily skewed in favour of tenants that they are all portrayed as victims and the Landlord are all portrayed as Rackman.
