And speaking of the English language, did you know the powers that be have decided all train drivers across that veritable Tower of Babel that is the EU will be made to speak ... English? Gone but not forgotten - that's us. Ho ho ho! ;o)...

Indeed, that damn Brexit: if only politicians hadn't signed us in to the CM without asking in the first place, and hadn't lied about the block's intentions to the public at the first referendum, we wouldn't have needed to correct the situation so so so many wasted years later.
If you watch the youtube video I recently posted, you will see that the ‘hated lefty 5C’ Office for National Statistics shows the UK having the highest food inflation rate (at 19%) of any industrialised nation – that Damn Brexit.

yes hymie, did you do Rithmetic at school? It's one of the "3 Rs". The base is more relevant than the percentage. So a small percentage of a lot is better than 100% of eff all. Geddit?
Ah, it's another 'fun with numbers' skit to back your obsession.

Have a look around in the real world me old china.
o god I| thought this thread was serious

no not seriously crazy
The three "Rs". Well actually there is only 1 but don't let reality stand in the way of a good rant.
The link leads to an article dated May 2022, which talks about bread, cheese, potatoes etc, without giving any indication of what weight/quantities are involved. There is a chart dating from 2022 which gives prices for these undefined items in eight foreign capitals, but no English figures.
We've just returned from France, and everything over there was much cheaper than here.
What's the point of posting links a year old?
reading
riting
rithmetic

As you know

Have a day off maggie, the 3Rs is a universally accepted term even though only one of them is actually an R. Your desperation to find fault makes you look silly.

11:28, yep utter BS, I actually saw aq mate of mine last night who's dad lives in France, he just got back from visiting him and he said the prices were astronomical. 8 to 10 Euros a pint for a start!
My post should not have said that everything was cheaper in France; I was just referring to everyday food shopping. If you drink pints in France then it'll cost you (presuming you mean pints of English beer). Supermarkets there often have a UK shelf, where marmite, peanut butter, cheddar, marmalade, custard powder, Baked beans etc are available at huge prices. That's why we eat and drink what the French do. Chateau Medoc can be had for 4 euros a bottle, everyday table wine (AOC, not plonk) from 2 euros.

Your mate may not exist anywhere but in your head.
French supermarkets are more expensive than UK supermarkets.
And speaking of the English language, did you know the powers that be have decided all train drivers across that veritable Tower of Babel that is the EU will be made to speak ... English? Gone but not forgotten - that's us. Ho ho ho! ;o)

The UK is not different to any other country in Europe. We can compare prices as much as we like but we are similar to everywhere else.
Numbeo really isn’t the best site to get your point across Douglas. Completely unreliable user generated data
Less reliable than Tora's mate, emeritus? I doubt that.
