a regime like this is ultimately unsustainable... i do not think we can sanction it anymore than we already are and the government will not permit foreign aid because they are evil and they know it would undermine them

Yes I greatly sympathise with the OP here.
Doesn’t mean the Johnson story isn’t a big one although the childish nature of a lot of the posts on it is “disappointing”

There is nothing we can do I suspect other than be aware of it in a way that doesn’t mean we ignore our own much smaller problems.

Sadly there is nothing we can really do. Of course Mr Trump did start to try and talk to them - even went there, dialogue is really the only option we have left unless we can lean on China. But given we(The West) have had to take economic pain over Russia this is not feasible at the moment.

As for waiting, I think that would be forever. Fat boys relatives who would take over are worse than he is!

Closing the border with China was the final part of the trap for the people of NK, it may be that the government in Beijing will get tired of their annoying neighbour and act, they are not good with challenges and rejection.

I doubt the Chinese government cares about that. They prop up the regime. That’s all that matters

I think we must all be very aware already what the NK government is like. I don't see not being there as a blessing, as that should be the norm; it's more a blight on those unfortunate to be caught up there.

Unless their military opt to take out the regime (instead of taking out their family & neighbours at the order of the regime) then one wonders what would cause change.

An external strike would need to be very fast & effective to take out all the offensive missile sites before they were used. That seems very unlikely to be achieved.

IMO internal power shift is the only obvious solution, and that risks the country simply jumping from the frying pan into the fire.

(That stated, obviously it's all Boris' and Brexit's fault.)
