It’s one thing mouthing off about how awful your defence ministry is, but telling the truth about Donetsk, and slaying the myth swallowed by so many even in the west about Ukraine attacking civilians there since 2014?
And now on his Telegram channel tonight he’s claiming that his camp was hit by a missile from the direction of Russia, with “many dead”.
Pondering how to react.
Great news?
If "the aim [of demilitarising Ukraine] has largely been achieved", then how does that stack up against the less desirable, from Russia's point of view, of the demilitarising of Russia ?
I don't see how, having called the shots and pushed for all the activity, that Putin could disentangle himself from the obvious result of his folly.
I wondered if the ridiculous claim that Ukraine had been “demilitarised” was paving the way for “mission accomplished: gesture of goodwill” by the Kremlin involving withdrawal of its troops from some areas. With typhus and cholera reportedly spreading through their trooos in the flooded area of Kherson after their own act of sabotage and their “special military operating” unravelling.
Thus criticism by Prigozhin (which is pretty rich given he’s up to his ears in war crime) plainly implicates Putin and not just Shoigu. Even if he doesn’t mention Putin by name in this latest rant. He has done in previous rants.
Wagner and the Kremlin are involved in a stand off over military contracts.
It’s hotting up nicely: Prigozhin vows to attack the Russian military with 25,000 of his men: and the Kremlin responds by issuing a criminal charge against him.
Rats: here’s a sack for you.
Russian channel DONTSTOPWAR reports that a 50km long Wagner-column has crossed the Novoshakhtinskaya border checkpoint into Russia reportedly heading for Novocherkassk (towards Rostov-on-Don).
It’s not even making the mainstream news any more, Ich. Sad but true. The propaganda from both sides is making it hard to see what’s actually going on.
“ It’s not even making the mainstream news any more, Ich. Sad but true”
Not true?
Thus particular story (Prigozhin v Kremlin) was on the BBC news tonight as was a report from Kherson.
What IS infuriating is that the BBC etc ignite the overwhelming evidence of the cause of the Kakhovka dam disaster.
Who knows Roy.
It’s reported that Russian VDV are being urgently sent to Rostov.
Personally, I don’t believe as some do, that this is staged. This tension has been slowly brewing too long for that.
BBC Russian service is saying that the “Fortress” security lockdown has been implemented in Moscow. With government ministries shut down.
It’ll either prove to be nothing or it’ll blow up spectacularly.
Why Rostov?
Rostov is the hub for military supplies to Ukraine. Whoever controls that city controls the war. If Prigozhin’s forces were to take Rostov he’d have the entire operation at his mercy
Wagner controls Rostov (airfield and military headquarters) - also Voronezh now apparently. This was somewhat quicker than Bakhmut lol.
None of which means Putin is about to fall of course.
But one can hope.
we heard it first from you Itch.
er obviously you are pro_Ukrainian
but more truth is here etc....
some intellect on the Beeb - we are witnessing an unravelling of state power - - - altho if look at the Kurck sinking, Putin did not come out well but survived
Beeb not doing well - still sitting on the fence over the dam
even prigosin cant be in two places at once
if 25 000 are on the way into Russia then they cant be at the front...
even Prigosins statement - they bombed us!
needs er verification
Prigozhin has been filmed in Rostov holding talks with Russsia's deputy defence minister.
Approaches to Moscow have been blockaded, presumably by loyal members of the Rosgvardiya (national guard). Those forces are trained to deal with civil unrest though, not an army of mercenaries.
