I'm inclined to agree with you, Khandro. I think mum doesn't want her late husband to be remembered as someone who dragged their son onto a suicide mission.

Also it was first said that Dad originally bought the tickets for a father / son bonding experience for Father's Day but now Mrs Dawood says she gave up her seat for her son.

I don't believe he wanted to go.

There is new evidence ,apparently, that the occupants of the submersible were aware that something was amiss and an attempt was made to abort the dive. It was reported that the ballast drop tanks had been released, prior to imploding ,in the hope to resurface.
