The latest news I have read today ( maybe the mail ). , she. Has refused to attend court for sentencing, just how unfair is that to the parents .?
It's awful, but there is not really much that can be done. She's got the maximum sentence required by law, so she cannot be further punished by refusing to attend.
I know BM, but I also read some of parents feel * let down* that she can make that decision.
S one parents wish she were in court ( like they have) to see if she displays any emotion .
It is the final act of wickedness - which is how one parent described it.

Their victim impact statements were harrowing.
The person in question is a coward - only a coward would kill babies as they can't fight back!
So a coward was never going to face the families in court. By forcing her (how would you do that ? Manhandling her) you lower yourself to her level and give her the satisfaction of a reaction.
A whole life term, with no chance of parole. Good. Thank you, Justice Goss.
L-iK, x 6 - a sentence for each of the babies she killed.

Today Alison Kelly the Head of Nursing at COCH who was in that post at the time of the killings has been suspended.

This is going to be one enquiry and no mistake. I just pray that all issues are fully investigated and that all findings are addressed to the satisfaction of all involved.
An absolute tragedy, and can only pray this give some small sense of finality to the families of the victims.
Correction ^ x 7 whole term sentences.
Just been reading about a similar case back in the 60s - Beverley Allitt - she was given a 30 year sentence.
Please see my post at 10.57. I'm not defending her. Just stating facts.
I can see 10clarionstreets point.. it'll be interesting to see if she appeals.... but not sure what tge grounds could be.
Morea7 - Beverly Allitt was the 90's not the 60's.
Oldbird/ My mistake, apologies. I was looking at her date of birth!
It was the 90s.
Another apology .....Oldandconfused.! ^^
// Just been reading about a similar case - Beverley Allitt - she was given a 30 year sentence. //

Obviously lessons were not learned.
There are a few serving whole life sentences and Letby is top of the pile imo.

From the BBC website. //The girlfriend of Moors murderer Ian Brady, Myra Hindley and serial killers Rose West and Joanna Dennehy are the only women to currently be serving a whole-life sentence.\\

Well they've got that wrong, Hindley died on 15th November 2002!
For those that refuse to attend their sentencing, I would at least feed the audio from the court room into the cell where they're being held. On a loud volume.
Sharon I read somewhere this morning that they were considering doing that but can't remember where. Story of my life:-(
It is the very final choice Ms Letby will have, for the rest of her worthless life.

Every single thing from now until the day she dies, will be decided by other people.

So given this last chance at control and influence, it's not at all surprising that she has opted to use it.

I think it is more about simple control, before it vanishes for ever, than a need to hurt the parents even more, although of course that is the result, intended or not.
