I saw a headline referring to that ^^^...and hoped they could do it. She got her way unfortunately.
Is there no program here where victims/victim's families come face to face for closure?
There are proposals for a change in the law to compel convicted felons to attend sentences. But as in all other matters, these things do not happen swiftly.
Once she is found guilty no decision should be left to her. Her attending court maybe would be slightly beneficial to the families, of the murdered babies and those left with life limiting condition.
None at all. Mr Justice Goss said in his summing up that it was not in his remit to determine what her motives were - nor could he. During the trial the Prosecution asked her why she cried when talking about herself but not when talking about the babies. Beggars belief.
anne, I know what you mean. I saw it through and I am glad I did. It left me wondering how the parents have coped throughout the trial. I cannot imagine they will ever get closure.
If you go down to the Telegraph you can see it says she can be forced to appear in court today.
confused all day on forcing to attend
Home office minister R4 - you can force
Beebster: no you cant
H.O.min then keeps quiet
later
old LCJ ( lord chief justice) John THomas (LCJ) or someone said there were powers to force a prisoner ( so yes) but the prison officers may be unwilling to use it for fear of being sued ( so no) and no one had the power to tell the prison officers to bliddy well do what they were told
I thought: no wonder he got to be Ld Chief Justice
I really don't see the point in making such people attend court for their sentencing. At the very least they can just completely ignore what's going on, so no point them being there. In the worst case they can completely disrupt the court and there's very little you can do about it; you can't lengthen the sentence. If the intention is to give some sort of satisfaction to the relatives of the victims it could seriously backfire.
well done chowks my girl - you heard the interview and understood it. ( reasonable v any). I just heard "yes you can" and "no you can't" at the same time. bit like AB
Here is a manual on restraint in the land of the free ( oc ourse)
