an israeli airstrike is confirmed to have hit an orthodox christian church where hundreds of palestinian christians were taking shelter including elderly people women and children... 16 fatalities are so far confirmed but clearing of the rubble has only just begun 

israel claims that a hamas command centre was "nearby" 

how can this be a justifiable means of self-defence?

- plenty of posts on that already... doubt very much anyone would post on this if i had not

- i don't think the fact that hamas started the current war means that israeli atrocities should be hidden or excused

I'm afraid mass killing is a consequence of war, untitled, weapons are as accurate as people think and if they were aiming at a Hamas target it is quite possible that a civilian target could be hit. 
We can go down the route of 'did they know the church was full of civilians' and/or 'was it a deliberate attack on a civilian target' but we simply don't know and we'll end up mired in opinion and speculation.

if it was occasional zacs then i could understand the claim that it was accidental but there have been constant israeli attacks on civilian targets over the past week (not to mention the blockade which attacks civilians exclusively) and i simply don't belive that these thousands of missiles have been precisely targeted to avoid civilian casualties... it looks to me like they are chucking in all but the kitchen sink out of pure retaliation

if you wish to avoid speculation then consider the blockade of food water and electricity... these are things which can only harm civilians and have created a humanitarian crisis among refugees inside gaza

The Hamas cowards use schools, hospitals etc to store their arms and often as bases of operation. More Hamas victims. Everything that happens is 100% at the door of Hamas, they started it, cause and effect, end of.

i had not been using the site for several months when that question was posted roy... i have said several times that hamas are evil and that their crimes were despicable and your failure to read them is not really my problem

I have described it as evil and unjustifiable yes... happy to do so again, what hamas did was among the worst and most repulsive things that human beings are capable of. there is no hell hot enough for people who kill noncombatants especially children and treat their bodies with such inhuman contempt and indignity. it is evil.
