Er, let me think... Between a rock and a hard place comes up to mind.

The ones that break the law?

Perhaps they'll take the knee and look up to heaven for guidance because the commissioner won't be on the front line and no error.

Tommy Robinson has called for hos 'followers' to protect the Cenotaph and the Football Lads Group are said to be about to descend on the area in their thousands.

Not really much chance of there not being a few 'spots' of aggro, imho. Brings to mind the Hell's Angels marshalling that Stones gig many years ago.

Just stop oil will be the easiest

When worrying about this situation yesterday I asked OH if it was likely that the soldiers at the Cenotaph would have live ammunition in their rifles.  He looked at me as if I were nuts.... of course they will.

All very worrying.

Neither, I suspect they'll be earwigging generally in case someone uses the wrong pronoun.

Both, I hope.

Hearing the pish from the police, im getting the impression they actually want these mainly anti semite brit hating imports to have their march ...you'd think the police would be doing their utmost to have it stopped one way or another, warn them off or something but no....one could almost be forgiven for thinking the police support them...hmmm, let me think about that.....

It appears some patriot football fans may be going down there to protect it.

The Met plod have bought this on themselves.

Without a doubt if Yaxley-Lenon or similar had organised a march they would have stopped it.  They should have stopped this on just this one day.

//Without a doubt if Yaxley-Lenon or similar had organised a march they would have stopped it. //

Indeed they would.

hey Baz, i think they have warned them off.  on the news last night the police asked them not to, and their plans don't meet the threshold for banning

If you want to live in a country where marches/protests are banned for no reason other than there might be trouble you are welcome to i guess?

The march, which I strongly disappointed of, won't be going anywhere near Whitehall.

And nor I suspect will Robinson's merry band of thugs

Strongly disapprove of

//If you want to live in a country where marches/protests are banned for no reason other than there might be trouble you are welcome to i guess?//

We do.

Ick, the problem wont be the bulk of marchers who will want to reamin peaceful but the handfuls out for trouble.  They wont stick to the routes but will use them as cover.  Same for Yaxlet-Lenon.

And how do you stop someone going to pay thier respects to the fallen?

I was looking at it more from a cenotaph confrontation point of view. I agree tho that things are ugly. It's extraordinary how this conflict caused division across the world. You go to Belfast and walk around and with the Israeli and Palestinian flags and but for the weather u might be forgiven for thinking you were in the ME. Antisemitism particularly as well but not only. Here I deplore that way Sadiq Khan's name is continually evoked  as though he's some sort of Islamic Svengali and the root of all evil.

The police have the authority to request a ban on marches when I served in the Met nearly 27 years ago. Theresa May banned a Lennox march during her tenure.

Jourdain,

I honestly do not believe the military will have loaded weapons for this ceremony unfortunately.

The Met have baton rounds and tear gas for fourty years after the riots when PC Blakelock was butchered but have never used them.

I reckon the Met Commissioner is seriously naive if he believes the Palestine March organisers will keep their bargain and steer away from the ceremonial route. They will have firebrands in the extremist rabble who will do their own thing. They have no respect for the dead or the living (elderly Poppy sellers)

Sorry TTT. I am a slow typist. Cross posts
