Lemuel often reveals he is raising a glass of Hopleaf or currently enjoying a glass of same. That leads me to believe he resides in Malta as this delicious brew is made by a brewery  called Simonds in Malta. They also brew Cisk lager and distribute Kinnie soft drink. Ho Ho Ho. I know of no other brew called Hopleaf and made elsewhere.

My mother has moved back to the UK, after 20 years in Malta. She said the corruption within the Maltese government is absolutely disgraceful 🤦.

For those who are uninitiated Strait Street was known as 'The Gut' by sailors on the Mediterranean Station. It was full of seedy bars and brothels.I saw a grown man cry when he saw how the gut had changed after his tour in Malta years ago. He bought his wife to show her his old haunts when he was a single matelot.It was full of arty farty trendy gallerys and studios.No Toms or Dives left there anymore.
