The Uk is in a grip of travel misery as motorways close  rail travel delayed ..Port of Dover with two hours delays And Eurostar backlogged .Don't they know it's Christmas.

16:14, Gully, by all accounts they are falling over backwards to ingratiate themselves with the Chinese. Much of the architecture is being destroyed by some very dubious planning decisions. My mother could give you a very good run for your money on the subject.

I was disappointed with the Gut in Malta in 1970. It still reeked of urine though.

retrocop at 16.22, your description of the Gut was quite accurate back in the day.  I visited it just for the one night mind early seventies while serving in the RN and that was quite enough for me.  Went in one bar and after a few drinks needed the toilet.  The woman serving pulled a curtain around the sink in the corner of the bar which she had not long before been washing glasses in and said to use that and yes it was the only place to go also saw others use it too.  An experience I will never forget lol.
