I've asked before but, why do Americans have to dress up their executions as science.

Shoot them and be done with instead of mulling and beard stroking.

Proper drop hanging is the best method. However a bullet would do just as well, why they have to make such a circus of it baffles me.

For the numbers involved it's hardly worth the bother. And the time spent on death row - average more than ten years - is unconscionable. Do it quickly or don't do it at all.

Deed done. The same news article gave conflicting views. One individual stating he convulsed for 25 minutes while another said that it had proved to be an effective and humane method of execution. So which was it ?

There's a Japanese man who's spent 45 of his 87 years on death row. Man hadn't even orbited never mind landed on the moon when he was convicted

Moon landing was in 1969, 55 years ago.

10 years more than the 45 he spent on death row.

Michael Portillo did a programme for Horizon called, "How To Kill A Human Being" and using nitrogen gas was discussed.

Why don't they inject them like they do animals, they just 'go to sleep' peacefully within seconds.  Just give a larger dose for humans.  If they are worried about one person being responsible they could give two or more jabs, some of which were placebos.

The authorities tried to do that from the onset but just could not find a intravenous vein. They, apparently tried both arms and legs.

They do (did) that but have had trouble mechanically injecting the (strapped down) subject & drugs firms have refused to supply the necessary medication.

They can't use a jag now because of difficulties getting supplies of the drugs that were previously used.

As said above, String up is best if done properly, Albert Pierrepoint had it down to a fine art.  Otherwise yes use a bullet and send the relatives the bill for it.

What gets me is the hand wringing for the perpetrator.  What about his victim and her grisly end?
