If they want Palestine to prevail it follows that they want Hamas to prevail.  The result of that will be an Islamic state where Israel once stood.  Their next protests then will be on behalf of gay rights, women's rights, trans rights and freedom of speech.  Good luck to them with any of that.

Universities and the young have always done things like this, ban the bomb, greenies etc.  When you are young, dont pay for things and have an idealic view of life you support odd causes.  Most (except the like of COB etc) grow out of it.

Students often support daft causes as part of their new found right to have a vouce of their own, especially since it'll be the first time they are not residing in their parents' house.

 

All it needs is for an agitator to convince them of a cause. This can come from the students union, or leaders in one of the Freshers clubs and societies. Just that with the world seeming so volatile at present you get a bias towards global politics rather then some national/domestic cause.
