Ridiculous sentences.

A girl is fined �75 for leaving a lolly stick on a wall. A man is given 12 months jail for cutting off his girlfriend's hair. Yet hi-jackers are allowed to stay in the country, someone who rapes a 12 week old baby get 5 years and prisoners are released early to commit murder! This country is a laughing stock around the world.

I think there should be set guide line for punishment. They should get all the Judges to set down and set out what gets what and use that as a guide when punishing people. Different judges seem to hand out different degrees of punishment. I know they have to look at the circumstances of the crime and take that into consideration but if they had something to work around that would be better. There sould also raise the set minimum for certain crimes. Instead of saying you could get up to xxx for a crime, they should say you WILL get xxx for a crime plus extra if the judge thinks it's needed.

I agree, Great Britain is no longer great. It is a laughing stock internationally. Since Blair is such Friends with Bush then maybe he'll pay attention to the American Way of Justice.

It's the world. Not just certain countries. Im an American, and everyother thing I read makes me ashamed to be an American. We have stories just like that here in the states, and it sickens me. You'll have a longer sentence for fraudulism and money laundering then you will for murder and rape. It's mind-boggeling.

But in regard of the decision to let those hi-jackers stay, I really hope the judge who made the decision is a victim of crime comitted by one of the hi-jackers.
