After watching the headlines about property damage and the sad deaths of nine people just wondered were you a victim in any way of the gale force winds.
We were lucky, nothing serious, my son and I had a near miss with a flying branch whilst out driving and my husband gave up on the drive home from London last night due to the motorway problems.

Again we were lucky in the fact that we only lost a fence (posts and panels) at home, fence panels at our factory and the front door of factory was pulled back so hard that the hinge came loose and the wind caused all the ceiling panels to flip over. I left it til late before driving my 60 mile journey home and by 8pm all was still but the roads were a mess of debris and traffic lights were out in places.
My sister was parked next to a car in the car park and witnessed the driver opening his door without holding onto it. She heard a loud bang and then watched as he drove away. Luckily she took a note of his number plate as the damage that he had caused the car next to him was extensive. She then left all his details at the store and they called the owner of the car.
My heart goes out to all those that lost loved ones in the storms.

It was chaos round here yesterday, my road was closed off to traffic and a man was killed and lady was badly injured just up the road.

Manchester is full of building and redevelopment sites and very dangerous things to be near in weather like yesterdays.

I got home last night to find part of my garden fence spread across the garden.
Apparently a couple of the huge trees near where I work in Queens Gardens in Hull have been uprooted.

Fortunately nothing particularly serious. At least not that I know of.

I got home last night and the plastic table in the garden had blown over. Fortunately the chairs were still upright.

I got home last night and my plastic wheelie-bin had blown over. Luckily it was empty, imagine the mess there would have been had it been full. I feel very lucky.

A labnurnum tree came down on my husbnad's car in our driveway, some scratches to the paint but that's all. Several fence panels gone as well but trivial compared to what some poor families are facing today

I lost a mini greenhouse, not glass, material. its in someones garden somewhere, a large tree was uprooted nearby, no damage to propertied, fell the right way, and my neighbours fence came down, spent this morning helping him put it back.

We lost part of the stables roof and about 4 trees in the grounds, no-one hurt though thank God. Upside is we can now walk across one of the fallen trees and get to the duck island in the lake which'll give us the chance to put in the bridge we've been meaning to without getting wet:)
A guy got hit on the head by a slate in the village and cut his head open which was nasty, but he's ok.

I got home tonight and noticed part of the roof in the east wing was missing. Also several trees in the grounds have been destroyed. Luckily one has fallen over and formed a bridge to my swan reserve island.That will make caring for them that much easier. God certainly does work in mysterious ways.

yes, you were lucky bill,...my damage was confined to the west wing, just a few branches flying around, landed all over my helicopter pad. Luckily my helicopters were in their hangar, being polished by my crew. Haven't heard if my yacht is ok, the one moored in Jersey, where I hear they had quite a storm too.

Its gud to know that most of us had relatively minor damage or inconvenience. Can I echo redcrx 's sentiments and say my thoughts are with you.

the weather seems to have sent you two even more mad than you were before.
The thing is that your comments would have been all very hilarious had what I said not been absolutely true. As it is, here's a couple of pics of my house where I think you can see the duck Island and the stable blocks and if you want to have a gander at the storm damage, I'll even go to the trouble of going out tomorrow and taking some pics for you. Alright lads?

only had a few tiles off the roof ..they smashed our neighbours terracotta plant pot too ,glad they missed the windows on our side and theirs ! Pales into insignificance ....

My Daughter lives in Holland and the wind was so bad there that all trains were stopped people just couldnt stand up in the wind she had a tree come down through her roof luckley she was not badly hurt just a broken arm her car was also crushed by debris from the house my Grand Daughter who was due to come home from Cologne by train could not get home and could not contact her mother as she was in the hospital and they were the lucky ones
