i don't think it could happen on here because AB would remove a thread as soon as they realised what was happening and also we can report a thread if it's abusive.

what a sad thing to happen to someone who went on to a chatroom coz he was probably lonely

If you read it though opra he was in an Insult Chatroom. Most users, according to that article, presumed it was a hoax on his part. I really don't think they can be held accountable for it in anyway.

Having suffered from clinical depression i think theres more to this than just to say he was messed up in the head .

This man clearly had personal issues. No blame can really be apportioned to anyone else since suicide from Latin sui caedere, is the "wilful" act of killing oneself. Whilst we can vilify those who watched it, or even egged it on, should we not then also reprimand any of those people who slow down to stare (rubber-neckers) at the scene of an horrific car crash? Most people are guilty of morbid curiosity.

What sort of society is it where a man feels the only public attention he can get is by doing something like this? Of course someone on AB could be affected by another person�s vitriolic abuse, but to do something like this they would need to have something going seriously wrong in their lives beforehand. He didn�t NEED encouragement.

it could happen anywhere. It was a tragic tale and I hope that wherever he is that hes a peace. Its a shame that others will now be left with that memory forever, thats a terrible legacy to leave behind.

I think i'm really heartless on this one as I think what he did was a truly disgusting thing to do, whilst some of the people who watched him do it might be able to shrug it off, there will be some who will be mentally scarred by that for life.

I'm sorry, but i feel no sympathy for the guy in any way shape or form, my sympathy lies with the folks who witnessed it.

The 'poor guy' was obviously on a path of self-destruction. I actually feel worse for the people who had to witness it.

at the time of his suicide this man felt he had no option , to do it on a web site is very strange, but if the same ( god forbid ) happened on this site surely you would not watch such a tragedy, please stop condeming the man unless you have any idea how his mental state was at the time. and suicide is not a selfish act .
