Did the Police over-react with this bottom pinching incident?

Quote from the web site:
He said a female Channel 4 producer called 999 as she chased after Mr Burdett following the incident.
"I was outside and saw her make the call as she was running after Rufus', he said. "He escaped, but then five police cars turned up. It was ridiculous."

So I guess I didn't take too seriously.
In the context I think it was probably just a lad chancing his arm and finding himself quite funny. Not something I'd have gone the police about I don't think but then I guess if she felt threatened....
Seems a triffle odd to me though.

Absolute toilet, the whole incident.
Whilst I do not support any kind of loutish behaviour, the "pinch" was merely a cocky young man trying to be funny.
It was in no way a "sexual assault" and some social worker was on the wireless harping on that it was!!!
A waste of time, a waste of resources and a waste of news time.

mens rea Lambert!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As you know, the victims wishes are not a decding factor nowadays. If the police really thought it was a sexual assault (or the CPS) it would have gone to court. She would then be a hostile witness.
As you know the rules of evidence are exactly the same for a caution as they are for a charge (you can't have both!!!)
Not a sexual assault. If he pinched her bum with an obvious hard on and clearly gained some sort of gratification from the incident or there were verbals such as "Ooooh what a lovely bum, I want you etc" then yes, a bone fide sexual assault.
This???? No way.

That's it. He is guilty of an assault, nobody is denying that. But he did not have a guilty knowledge that this was sexual. as said if he said "OOOOhhhh I love arses, they turn me on" etc, fine a sexual assault. But he did it for a laugh.
There is case law on the old twenty pence trick.
"I bet you 20p I can make your boobs shake without touching them"
"Go on then"
The man then shakes the womans boobs and gives her the twenty pence
"Well it was worth loosing the bet"
Sexual assault??? No guilty of common assault only.

I hate this overwrought reporting that these live feeds specialise in. So the juxtaposition of what Sue Turton was saying and reality as witness by the grope was gratifying...
Sue Turton:
"...people here have been preparing for the worst..."
The reality:
Man staggers out of pub and gooses TV reporter.

The reason I found this article interesting was the fact that I was waiting to read some replies before confessing that I have had my bum pinched by a female.
i was in the supermarket waiting for my wife to have some bread sliced, and I was leaning bent over the shopping trolley. When much to my suprise I felt my bum being pinched, turning round sharply I expected to see someone I knew. Instead I was rather suprised to discover it was an unfamiliar female . She just said with a smile ' I could not resist that ' and went on her way.
Ever since this recent incident, I have thought what if the roles had been reversed would she have let the matter pass, or would I have been escorted to the Managers office shamed as just another dirty old man?

This may shock some of you...indeed it shocks me...
But for once...I don't think I've got an opinion on this story.
It's not that I don't find it interesting. I do...but...I...just don't know what I think about it.
Cherish this thread people...it's only a matter of time before I'm harping on about Muslim/black/gay rights.
