Have just heard that the Portugese police are intending to charge Kate McCann in connection with Madeline's disappearance. Is this anything to do with the DNA evidence that was sent for examination in the UK? Anyway, I can't believe that either parent had anything to do with it. What do other AB'ers think?

I was just looking at the Sky News website who heavily implied that Kate McCann would be charged, and now I have just learned that she has walked from the police station without being charged. I find this type of reporting infuriating -they are simply trying to get one over on the BBC who are always more conscientious in their reporting. Anyway, I agree with enigma, just because she is is a suspect does not mean that she is responsible for the 'death' but it does make for a strangely compelling story. The attractiveness element discussed is an issue I don't really understand. I don't see how it has anything to do with anything.

IMO -its like a kangaroo court on her and in the media.
I reserve judgement on the matter because regardless of what your opinion is you are shot down in flames.

I will say one thing however - my children watched their dad, them being the age of 18 and 22, being cremated at the age of 50, due to an accident ,and managed to retain some decorum and composure in the face of overwhelming grief and in front of well over 300 people.What does that make them?
Some people just dont show their feelings publicly -however no-one knows what goes on behind closed doors..I do.

It will all come out in the wash as they say.

I've always had my doubts about the pair of them from the word go.

They both act odd, remember his '' we will take only 3 questions '' only today comment after days of her going missing?

They have shown no signs {certainly in public} of being distressed/breaking down, god is our comfort at this moment in time, what a crock of sh!te. If my little boy went missing, i would'nt be turning to god.

Two many questions have gone unanswered by this pair, both were doctors i believe, i hear that sedating madeline could of been an option

I want to backup GoodSoulette's point. With this being arguably the highest profile missing person's case in history, and with the reporters and the public dogging every single move made by the McCanns, when does anyone suppose they could have had the time to dispose of a body? And where could they have hid her for a full 25 days before the hire car?

I'm not bothered about them not shedding tears. Some people wail for days on end when a celebrity like Princess Diana dies, others maintain a stiff upper lip at the funeral of their parents. I'm not about to condemn someone for not wanting to break down in front of millions of people.

I'm also reluctant to criticise them so severely for leaving the children alone. The exact same thing used to happen to me on holiday. My brother and me would be put to bed in the hotel room, and my parents would got to the restaurant to have a meal together. Nothing wrong with that. If you live in fear of an abduction taking place every 5 minutes your children are going to grow up terrified.

I have to say the new reports that blood matched to maddie was found in a car the family rented 25 days after maddie went missing is an unusual fact but one which makes me consider:

A ) Why was the car of the family checked and dna tested when really the family have never been suspected by the portugese till more recently?

B ) Who had rented this car days earlier before the McCanns, when middie actually when missing and need transporting dead or alive?

I do think there is a chance as doctors they gave maddie drugs to help her sleep so they could go out to eat locally. Esp. if maddie had been crying for hrs on other nights. Question:

A) Did the McCann's take medications with them on holiday or get them from a phamacist there. If so there should be a record of the drugs being prescribed/handed over the counter. Or did the Mc Canns as doctors take it with out paperwork to back it up??

B) Doctors make mistakes all the time 1000's die everyyear for mistakes, whats to say this would be any different, maybe they were is a rush to go out, maybe they had had a drink and gave the wrong dose, maybe she choked on vomit or sufficated under the blankets.

C) Were the twins given the drugs as well. And in the event she was taken by a stranger is that why she was taken and none on the childen called out or were woken?

-Was it gerry seen/witnessed carrying Maddie from the scene.
-How could they have hidden the body till they could dispose of it and where, esp. with all the press around.
-When was maddie last seen alive was she killed before everyone thinks and disposed of previously.

Couldn't maddie have just been druged awoken in the evening left the appartment looking for her parents to then drown in the sea or fall in some building foundations?

I sometimes think about the fact that everytime the police said that they were scaling down the search, there would be a 'sighting' - some were real but wrong girl and some couldn't be traced. Was this the Mccans trying to lead police of scent?

Oh I hate thinking they did it, I really hope they didn't but it's getting harder to be objective.

I just been watching the news about this one, all Ive heard from supporters is that these guys wouldnt /couldnt do a thing to harm their children. Why hasnt anyone asked why they left their kids alone in the hotel room while they went off having a good time in the first place? Or did they defend that and I missed it? Im not accusing them/her of anything, thats for the police to do, but thats baffled me right from day one! You cant say you think the world of your young daughter, then leave her alone like that. Its just not on. IMHO

If the McCanns hadnt been 'doctors' the case would have gone much differently. They would have been suspects earlier I believe and - if it was in this country - they would probably have been charged just for leaving 3 kids alone!!!
Its a shocking case, and the weirdest Ive heard. Could it be the biggest con ever?

I'm confused as to how they would have had the time and privacy to actually drive out to somewhere, dig a hole and bury her without somebody seeing them, because they've been in the media pretty much non-stop since day one. I don't think they did it.

You don't have to be a Poirot to consider that one or both of the parents took the child away earlier that evening, went out for the meal, and then returned claiming she had been abducted in their absence. Who knows?

I just wish it was all over for everyone, and that wee maddie was safe n sound. Its quite haunting.

Perhaps something 'happened' to her during the day? We don't know if she was ever seen in the evening as the friends who were checking on the children never actually went in the room. This would explain how the timing doesn't fit for having a meal, murdering your child and then disposing of the body.....and then reporting it to the police.
