Have just heard that the Portugese police are intending to charge Kate McCann in connection with Madeline's disappearance. Is this anything to do with the DNA evidence that was sent for examination in the UK? Anyway, I can't believe that either parent had anything to do with it. What do other AB'ers think?

I believe that everyone is innocent until proven guilty, and even then they sometimes get it wrong. Nobody has been found guilty of anything so they are all innocent.
I think the reason there are answers on here where people are just making up any scenario they can think of, is probably because no-one actually knows anything and i guess they are frustrated about that. It is very sad though, especially when someone says they hope they are proved right about the mother having murdered her.
I just keep an open mind on this as like everyone i do not know what has happenend to madeleine.
I just hope everyday we will hear the news she is found safe and i hope also she is not suffering wherever she is.

what we havent heard much about is the 'friends' they were dining with ! no comments from them as far as I know.

i dont know what to think anymore just wish maddie is safe and well but find this highly unlikely-4 months and not one sighting. I dont think gerry and kate have anything to do with it,but why leave your children in a room in a foreign country to go 150 yards away,why not take the children with them??!!! Thats the mistake that has cost this little girl her life-potentially. I wouldnt leave my children for a sec even if it was just to the corner shop,Ifeel sorry for them but i feel more for maddie,if shes still alive and what shes going through

I am a mother of 3 and grandmother of 4, My oldest being 30, 2 boys one girl they dont drink hardly, dont smoke, dont take drugs, dont sleep about, got married had children I tried my best, but I had my moments when they were sleeping and I nipped next door to see my friend. So unless you have made no mistakes in your life be careful of stones that you throw.

Thankfully Selby70, your children are alive and well and living a great life, however, on the face of it, The McCanns left their children for however long, and now look what happened. Its not stones were throwing here, Its common sense. Sorry, I dont want to start a row here or get anyones back up, but Its just wrong to do that these days.

selby70,why am i doing a bad thing by not wanting to leave my kids alone for a sec and keeping them safe.It only takes the once and i am not going to take being critisized for doing right by my children,whats all that belony about throwing stones,the world today is it its not a choice whether to leave your kids or not for a few secs its mandatory now,this world isnt safe

I can honeslty say that I have never left my kids on their own for even a second and in fact, at my last house, I was good friends with a next door neighbour and when my husband and her boyfriend were at work,(at night), we used to phone each other to chat which our partners found really bizarre because they said that we could have just looked out of our windows and blethered but our kids were asleep and we wouldn't have considered for even a second, leaving them alone. Even being just next door and taking my baby monitor to listen out for my children would not have been enough for me to have peace of mind. They could have choked or anything and I would never have had that on my conscience. In saying that though, I have had the odd scare when I have lost sight of my kids for a brief second as they have darted about in shops, hiding under displays or under clothes rails. Each to their own but I would never leave my kids alone - ever

This is such a strange case and I wonder if they will ever find out what happened. As much as I would like to believe she's still alive I think that the chances are now very slim.
If her mother is being treated as a suspect then they must surely treat the father as the same as I can't see that the mother could have done anything without him knowing and I also can't see how they could have hidden a body when the media spotlight has been on them to such a degree.
I really don't want to think that the parents had anything to do with this.

Too many posts to read, (time), but my personel belief is that the parents are innocent, but you could see this coming a mile away, and i'd take a bet that both parents will be charged at sometime soon.

They don't have enough evidence to point the finger and make it stick.
I don't think we will ever get to the bottom of this and most of it is down to some shabby police work.

i am totally with you there enigma,its just not safe or good parenting to leave a child unattended just like you cant leave a child in the bath unattended,hot saucepans,medicines etc,any of these could be acheviable if they were left unattended.

Isnt it also pointless making assumptions when we all dont know whats happened,the only person that does know is maddie and shes vanished,i dont like to make assumptions and what not just hope she's alive,its pointless assuming whats taken place surely??!! :)

I know leeway, I think its just cos the case is so unusual and a bit weird that people get all wrapped up in it, the McCanns did say they wanted maximum coverage and now theyve got it.
