I had delivered a lecture to some recruits and sent them for a coffee break, I wandered into the Sgt's Mess and everyone was watching sky news, the first tower was up in smoke, someone told me that a aircraft had crashed into it, I asked "was it pilot error or what"? when the second airplane smashed int the building, I turned to my friend and said "well it looks like we're at war". where were you? what were you doing when you heard the news?
I was taking some shellfish to my grandmothers with my mother (funny how we remember those details) and my mother got back in the car and said that a plane has gone into the WTC. We both commented that the pilot or pilots must have lost control, tragic accident. But coming home to switch on the TV we saw the second plane hit and thought.... OMG!
My first thought was 'are the USA under attack' and then OGM what does this mean for my hubby being in the Army. He didn't go to Afgan but was there in Iraq!
johnlambert, my hubby went in 2003, remember coz I was 3 months pregnant! Didn't see him again until I was ready to pop! What a hellish 6 month of our life! We lost contact for days on end and was on shut down so much that I was contantly havinghigh blood pressure. So glad he's out now!
i was at home making toad in the hole for tea. put bbc1 on for neighbours and wondered what the hell i was watching then watched the second tower being crashed into. rang mum at work and she was telling other ladies in her office only to discover that her friend's son was due to be there either that day or the day before. i felt terrible being the bearer of bad news
