dawn raIDS

Watching TV this evening , I noticed several policeman entering a persons home using brute force
I thought, because of the paranoid climate we are currently experiencing a major crime was being thwarted,or the guilty party were about to be arrested.
What a joke, all that wasted police time & resources for a couple of football hooligans.
However, the most frighening thing was it was the transport police who were breaking & entering a property.
Having been given given the powers beyond their own boundries it is time to be concerned .
Was Mr Orwell RIGHT or wrong.

BTP constables have the same powers as 'regular' constables while on railway property but can also exercise their powers throughout England, Scotland and Wales while on railway business. They are also allowed limited, conditional powers outside their normal jurisdiction, but if called upon by any territorial police force to render assistance during an investigation or operation they then assume the full powers of any constable within that requesting force.

I thought it was a bit harsh to start with but then the reporter said that these weren't blokes fighting with like minded blokes they were randomly attacking women and children.
Plus one of those arrested had a shotgun in the house so what do you suggest the police do?
Knock the door softly and say please nice man may we come in?
So if your wife had been assaulted by these "men" would you still feel the same?
Bl**dy do gooders make me sick.

If they (POLICE)had done their job properly on the day in question instead of these people having to undergo the awful experience, the dawn raid would not have been needed
However, it was a good PR exercise..
What happened to prevention, these people are employed to protect the public not let them endure the actions of a minority.
Mind you it is safer after the event & it makes them look dutiful! to a wider audience.

There are worse people out there than mere football hooliogans who would warrant such actions.
Rev I am certainly not a bl---- do gooder I just consider the police do not sometimes justify their actions, ie using a sledge hammer to crack a nut for the camera`s sake.
If they are druggies or armed criminals no problem.
However, the point initially was, are the Police overstepping their boundaries to such an extent we need to be concerned. I`m sure a certain widow would agree.

You are missing the point I know lads who are hooligans. These men were on a train, attacking women, children and the elderley not other men.
They then jump off the train before the police can get on it.
The police in this case have to rely on CCTV.
So how did the police overstep a boundary?
By smashing the door of a man who had assaulted women and the elderly and had a shotgun in the house.
You want to have a look at yourself.

These hooligans behaved as thugs, enjoy thuggery, yet when quite rightly given a taste of their own medicine you seem to think it's wrong and they should be treated with more respect? Is that what you're meaning Fletcher because that's how I read your comments and i'll apologise now if I've misread it.
I know real hooligans and they arrange to fight with like minded blokes, pre arranged.
They dont bring the public in2 it. Even a "real" football lad would be as incensed by this attack as the next man.
Mr namby pamby poof wants the door to be knocked with mittens and the police to bring round a flask of hot soup and some nice crusty bread.
fails to see the point that the bloke who house was shown getting raided had a shotgun in there!

Yes, I'm sure Mr Orwell was right. He fought in the Spanish
Civil War against facism and was very concerned about the apathy pertaining in Britain, towards the facist movement in Europe. Many football hooligans have connections to right wing extremist organisations, football grounds were a popular recruiting area for the National Front. I'm sure Mr Orwell would have been delighted with the police action.
When I first read fletchers' question and postings I thought it was a wind up, so light does he make of football violence. Over the years many people have died as a result of this thuggery. The latest I can recall was the policeman in Italy earlier this year. There is no more serious crime than murder. Wake up and take a look at the real world.

I totaly agree with your comments about the deaths concerned with football, however,it is not brought on by football fans with right wing connections, its the right wing hooligans infiltrating football fans & using them as a shield & as a resource to carry out their actions stoking up their already pent up emptions.
ie Belgium 1985.
There is also the media who dramatise & exaggerate trivial reports in which the gullible parts of our society swallow.
I was once a football fan. The introduction of the Premier League & what it represents, disgusted me to the point of Murdoch & co KEEP IT.
