It's PC gone mad.
"Police chiefs will spend 15,000 creating "ethnically diverse" mascots after an officer criticised a model for being too male and white.
The uniformed mascot, known as PCSO Steve, was created by the Metropolitan Police to visit primary schools.
But one of the force's sergeants criticised the character for failing to represent the capital's communities.
He said the figure, white with blue eyes and blond hair, risks leaving Asian and women officers "isolated".

I think Raggy Gromit might just mean Police Constable rather than Political correctness!
They're right - the police are always complaining that they can't recruit enough black and asian officers and they go and launch a recruitment drive with a blond haired blue eyed arian figurehead
What message does that send?
And I thought there was an IQ requirement to get into the Police!

Good grief Djerba!
How foolish we are! of course any recruitment drive should accurately reflect the sort of people you already have and not those you're trying to recruit!
My company is predominantly technical but we have a vacancy in accounts - must get an advert out for another technician immediately!
There's madness about today for sure!

You know the way around it?
Make the mascot non-human.
Simple y-see...make him a bear in a police uniform.
And to make sure he's ethnically diverse, rather than a brown bear, or a polar bear...make it a panda bear.
(And for the smart alecs amongst you, yes, I know that a panda bear isn't technically a bear).
