I was watching BBC Breakfast this morning and they did their 'Today's Papers' bit and one of the stories that they didn't mention on the front cover of one of the papers was about Lilly Allen's audience walking out.

Anyone know what this story was about?

Cheers,

Quite why the BBC assume a singer would naturally make a good talk show host is beyond me.

Cheers jno.

I know squarebear, I'm still going to watch it though, might be good after the edit.
Or even better for a laugh at some TV wanabee totally out of her depth.
That was the only reason I was planning on watching it too Lucy.
It worked with Charlotte Church, it'll work with Lily. Haha no wonder why the BBC didnt cover a news story featuring their own failures is testament to the tired, formulaic joke of a tv station losing it in front of an expectant nation!
Yet again the BBC assume popularity with no significant evidence to back it up.

It should be known as the 'Davina' factor - you'd think they'd learn their lesson wouldn't you?

Presenting TV looks easy because the majority of people who do it are consumate professionals who cover the chaose of live TV by maling it look very simple - and it is far from it.
That first sentance sums it up nicely andy-huges. This part of the report is particuarly significant...

"The show aims to tap into Miss Allens popularity on social networking websites such as Facebook and MySpace, which helped launch her music career."

Popularity which requires no financial out lay, the only effort you have to go to is clicking on a link on a web page, IMO about the lowest form or popularity measure I'd ever use if I was going to decide who was a good choice for a TV presenter, when I have seen on TV she has been terrible, certainly never enough to suggest she could host a show.
Thanks WoWo.

It does beggar belief that the BBC can equate Facebook popularity with a potential TV audience.

Let's face it, statistically, a tin of spaghetti will garner 'friends' on a site like this - the law of averages and sheer weight of numbers sees to that.

It's a long way from sitting at home and clicking a mouse to be a 'friend' than schelping into a studio to be bored stiff by a lovely girl who knows about as much about live TV as I do about the back side of the moon!
The very fact that the audience were made up of specially invited friends from her myspace site should have told both the BBC and Lilly that just because her daddy is famous and she did a song or two does not mean she would be any good at everything entertainment wise.
Her songs should have been enough to indicate she doesn't really have any talent at all.
They were mediocre fluff and nothing else.
