I don't think there is one positive answer about buying British. Its sad really! No thought for the millions about to lose their jobs even if your own job could be put on the line. There is an air of the self destruct button about it. No patriotism! One can see why this country is in such a mess with people only being concerned about themselves. No future! We may as well give up.

With that frame of mind nobody can grieve for all the exported jobs to India so that the banks can make extra millions at taxpayers expense.

Rov, my first priority is my family, feeding them and keeping warm and I am afraid that I have to buy what I can afford, and what I trust and think will last where material objects are concerned. Gromit's answer is spot on by the way.

Britain has changed from the manufacturing country it once was to a country that has mainly service industries. The whole world has changed and we are part of that bigger world. I personally think it is more selfish to just think about our own country and forget about the others that may be suffering more.

It's got nothing to do with patriotism at all. We have to adjust. We might not like the way things have gone, but it has happened. We have to further than our own country these days.

Yes, in the past buying british was a problem (Under last socialist labour Government) but things have genuinley changed.

It is not patriotic to seek to curb imports. If other countries did likewise we would lose �250billion in exports. The UK is the world's 5th largest exporter of goods and the 2nd largest exporter of services. The UK exports more per capita than either USA or Japan. Restricting free trade would be fatal for our economy.

Our economy is not fcked.

The UK Economy has grown every month since February 1993. This has been the longest period of uninterrupted growth for over a century. Our economy has been a fantastic success. The recession of 2000 which affected most of Europe and the US, did not occur here.

The economy is currently in a (mathematically) chaotic phase.

In such circumstances trying to manage it is nearly as difficult as trying to manage the weather.

Trying to buy British is really futile - it's all about confidence now.
