ban gay sex, say Brits
A quarter of Brits want homosexual sex made illegal. The figure has actually been rising.

This cannot be natural either with a member of the same sex or even with a member of the opposite sex. That part of the body isn't designed (if that is the word) to be used in such a way.
To the best of my knowledge Lesbians do not practice sodomy, perhaps this is why female homosexuality tends to be more acceptable.

Except the people who do it...
I don't see that it's relevant that people are uncomfortable with it. After all, the implication there is that the govt. should outlaw anything that upsets people. Which rather sounds like the 'nanny state' you've so vehemently opposed.

Then why do people find it pleasurable? It may not be 'designed' for sex, but it's still a source of sexual pleasure for people (though to be fair it varies - some people hate it. But there again some people hate vaginal sex).

I really don't think that works...
The implication here is that people tend to oppose homosexuality on grounds of sodomy, but I can't really see any evidence that the kind of people who feel gay sex ought to be outlawed are perfectly okay with oral sex between men (or any other kind of sexual activity).

I find the thought of ******* extremely odd, but if that floats their boat, then fair play to them: what they do doesn't affect me and therefore doesn't bother me.
I am a little uneasy about the Poofs on Parade marches they have, because on the one hand we are told it is a personal and private matter (which it is) and then on the other they are being light on their feet very publicly.
I am also uneasy about the apparent forcing of people to attend courses to 'empathise' with gaylordyness - remember the Scottish firemen who were disciplined and forced to attend a course? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/glasgow_an d_west/5301334.stm
But, on the whole, I couldn't really give a tinker's cuss.
However, I am in the 56% majority who belive same sex couples shouldn't be allowed to adopt.

Flip_flop - Me, too !
I demand that small children should remain in the over-loaded and under-funded care system, in orphanages and institutions which can provide little more than the bare essentials..............much rather that than having a room of their own in a house-hold which genuinely wants them and would strive to see them flourish............

Let me make it easy for you.
If someone has a vagina, then that person is a woman.
If someone has a penis, then that person is a man.
If someone with a penis is sexually attracted to someone with a vagina, then that person is referred to as 'straight man'.
If someone with a penis is sexually attracted to someone with a penis, then that person is referred to as a 'gay man'.
If someone with a vagina is sexually attracted to someone with a vagina, then that person is referred to as a 'lesbian'.
If someone with a vagina is sexually attracted to someone with a penis, then that person is referred to as as a 'straight woman'.
If someone with a penis or a vagina doesn't mind whether the person they're attracted to has a penis or a vagina, then they are referred to a as a 'bisexual'.
...or 'plain greedy'.
Hope that helps.

I love the way people chuck around words like 'morality', 'values' and 'natural' without ever bothering to think about what they mean or consider why they attach such importance to them. They're deep, interesting concepts. Have a go at questioning them.
I also love how people wheel out the adoption argument when they know full well it's not a factor in their prejudice.

flip_flop - Where, in that case, do you believe these children end up ? I'm not suggesting that conditions are still Dickensian in these institutions, but let's face it, they hardly compare to a 3-bed semi in suburbia.........
Have you seen how many children emerge out of he care system at age 16 without the benefit of having experienced a loving environment ?
But it suits your prejudices better to allow them to stay where they are rather than allow them to be adopted and brought up by a loving couple ? Just what do you think would happen to these children should they be adopted ? I'd be fascinated to know.......

You may believe that children are better brought up in a 'traditional family unit', but what personal experiences do you base this belief on?
Have you ever met anyone bought up by gay men or lesbians?
If so, what was it about them that made you believe that they would've been better served being brought up by as man and a woman?
I myself have never actually met anyone brought up by a gay couple. Nor have I seen any studies on the social problems (if any) by this form of child rearing.
Indeed, gay adoptions have are such a recent phenomenon, that I doubt whether there are any stats on which to base and opinion, so I'm interested to hear what has influenced your opinion.

Sp - I don't have any personal experiences, which is why I was quite clear in saying "I believe" as opposed to saying something along the lines of "it is a fact that...."
It is my belief that children are better off in a traditional family unit with a mother and a father.
The Guardian poll states that 56% of the population believe that same sex couples shouldn't be allowed to adopt. That is where I got the 'majority' from.
