so they get suspended from the bbc
who is running this country ?
political correctness gone mad ?
the press whip up a frenzy about some childish prank and even the pm has nothing better to do than have his twopenn'orth
so why did we all need to know ?
yet if some one goes on live tv and threatens to kill maim and injure then nothing more is said !!!
if the press have that much power then perhaps they should start to address some of the more emotional issues , such as lenient court sentencing !!

johnny.5 - this is not political correctness gone mad. Do you think it is acceptable for this dubious pair to call someone and leave a series of messages saying one of them has had sex with the person's granddaughter? Do you think this is just a prank? They did this on radio, it is in the public domain, so it is appropriate for the press to comment.
Well, Brand has now resigned his Radio 2 job.
I like Jonathan Ross - however, he completely overestepped the mark. I have just read his apology statement - I hope he has learned by this mistake and look forward to seeing him back on a Friday night. I also like his Saturday morning shows - especially as I always like the music he plays and the banter.
Ross and Brand - a complete mistake! Like a pair of naughty schoolboys.

I look at it from two sides.
Firstly Russel Brand broke the confidance of a past girl friend. Thats just nasty.
Not only did he do that he got some one else to join him in doing it. One Jonathan Ross who is of dubious character any way.
They didn't have the nerve to confront the girl herself, they went through her 78 year old grandfather. Thats just nasty as well.
Which tw@t let them pre record it, and then thought it would be a good idea to air it.
Then there is the other side. Andrew Sachs took worse physical and verbal abuse from a Mr John Cleese when at the height of his TV fame.
What is the difference, he was getting paid for it then.
It still does mean that pair shouldn't be made to suffer, even if just for the fact it keeps the general public from having to suffer them.

Hear, hear. I cannot stand either of them.
I used to enjoy listening to Radio 2 on a Saturday morning, but now, the minute I hear JR's ramblings, I immediately switch to another channel.
I've only ever tuned into JR's Saturday night show if someone I like is going to be on. But it isn't long before JR's irritating interviewing methods grate on me & I have to swtich over.
As for RB, I won't even go there.

I don't think it is 'power of the press' - it's the BBC, a publicly funded broadaster reacting far too late to the uproar caused among it's licence payers.
Brand has resigned, Ross will probably return, but long after the hysteria has died down, the BBC needs to examine its editorial policy, and find out how 'senior executives' find this material acceptable, and why no-one has adequatly responded to the reaction.
They are 'nearing completion' of their enquiry ...
Just how long does it take to say - 'You were employed as a BBc producer, and you are a senior executive, you shouldn't be allowed to walk a dog around the block, you are both fired. Suspend Ross for two months, make him apologise on Radio and TV - end of story.
Is that so difficult?
