I agree with you northboy, I posted about Deva last week in this section whenI read about him insisting customers speak in english. I wonder who the "Small Minority" were who managed to get Deva sacked from his post? It makes the blood boil eh?
John Heppell, the local MP doesn't seem to have a clue what ordinary British people think, does he? I would imagine he spends too much time with a liberal elite in Westminster and listening to radicalised minority groups in his constituency. I wouldn't expect anyone visiting Britain for a holiday to learn the language, but if you choose to live and work here, learn it!!
what gets my blood boiling is that these muslims want the government to pass a shi -ite law for them, and they say that if we( the british)dont like it,they want us to leave our own country.
that was in the daily star yesterday,i know we must not believe everything we read,we dont seem to have any rights anymore,my nan & grandad would be turning in there graves.
muslims over hear can have there freedom of speech but we can`t.
its a joke
and for them to have a muslim like themselves turfed out to a predominantly white area, and posted to another job, just shows you how much power they bloody well have.
I've no sympathy for him. He refused to serve customers who were struggling with their English. A form of racism, but more to do with ignorance on his part. He needs to learn more about life in the UK, treating everyone equally would be a start.
It's the future of Britain folks, Islam. A prime minister who hasn't got the guts to stand up for what is right, a mealy-mouthed politically correct idiot.
Newsdesk, I rather hope you are not British, because if you are, you are a damned traitor. I didn't die on the beaches of Normandy for a pilchard like you.
There's a lot of talk of sardines, morons and bad english on AB lately. Or perhaps there's a lot of morons talking in bad english about sardines. Or maybe sardines discussing morons in broken english? I'm easilly confused.
Evening ND, I'd say green suits you but you seem to be wearing it a lot of late!
Perhaps you're on probation? Or you could be a representative of the Irish victory... Mainly fish and less bunnies in CB these days; such is my understanding.
VHF - you actually raise an interesting point. Those who castigate foreigners for not being able to speak English do so from within some pretty fragile glasshouses.
If we can deny goods and services to people with a poor grasp of English, what's to be done with native Brits with poor literacy skills?
Have to have a level playing field.
By the way - can someone explain to me how this is a freedom of speech story???
Be bloody funny if all the Brits on holiday abroad got refused service 'til they could speak the local language - half of them can't even speak their own language properly.
