The Immigration Minister Phil Woolas MP is literally being confronted now on live TV about the plight of the Gurkhas and is virtually being told by Ms Lumley what's going to happen!

Brilliant!

doc:

A daft comment, for in case you haven't noticed it's the Gurkhas who have always fought for Great Britain, not the other way round.

Therefore your remark is churlish at best.
Poor Mr Woolas.

Last week he had to do what ministers in this dreadful government do all too often - attempt to defend the indefinsible.

Now his dear leader has left him in the lurch.

Ho ho ho!
And as british soldiers receive a far greater pension than the gurkhas im led to believe , they probably could live a life of relative luxury there.

I doubt theres many chavs there .
Lumley is becoming tedious. I hope they let all the Ghurkas in, and send out teams to Nepal to round up all the relatives and bring them over here, then build a huge new town all around Lumley's house, complete with special Gurkha shops, churches, supermarkets, etc.

Give it a rest Lumley!
Whiffy sod off you irritable tedious little pillock.

You rant about great britain ad nauseum.
When someone stands up for the Gurkha's who have traditionally been more loyal then the great unwashed you decide to go on a rant.

Try shoving your whole head up your arse then there might be some peace here.

Joanna is lovely the Gurkha's are deserving.

Give them parity with commonwealth soldiers.
Well maybe we could build the New Town in Scotland - which you decided to leave eh legend? Why don't you return and support your home country with your valuable labour?

It's a matter of NUMBERS. Britain simply cannot support endless immigration.

Keep your pathetic insults to yourself, silly little man.
Apologies to paraffin's thread . . . .

Whiffy sod off you irritable tedious little pillock.

Whiffy sod off you irritable tedious little pillock.

Whiffy sod off you irritable tedious little pillock.

Priceless!!!!!!!!!!!

A.Guest, you have me creased up in lols here.

Do you know me? Or are you just another silly little sycophant?

No, you are just legend logged in under a different name. Very very funny though.
Paraffin the gurkhas have every right and i do get irritated by pompous tw@ts who say they arent.
Then rant about a small town etc.

well given the choice between the gurkhas and some of the chavvy dole sponging trash in the uk id say pay the gurkhas and dont pay the trash.

problem solved.

i am not a guest.
But you ARE A.Guest !!

And I have no time for someone preaching at me from TENERIFE about British immigration issues.

Paraffin ill leave your thread now otherwise this interminable bore will prattle on rather than give the Gurkha's the respect and admiration they are due hes rather prattle away absolute garbage.
The man is without a doubt a fool.

More power to Joanna lumley and the Gurkha's.

Shame on the ignorant Brits who either don't know or don't care about the contribution these proud soldiers have made.

Again apologies for whiffy ruining the thread paraffin.
So legend apologises for me!!

LOL, silly little man, an emigrant from Britain, now a resident of Tenerife, from where he pontificates.

I may be a fool, but I didn't emigrate and desert my homeland.
OI-whiff..do ya want to have a go at me for deserting MY homeland...?? that kind of remark just does NOT carry any weight nowadays.
As for letting the gurkhas in being the equilavent of an onslaught from exotic climes....hey-they are a dying breed-there won't be THAT many of them left by the time the Gov't makes up its mind.

Anyone wishing to have a slanging match at one another is more than welcome to start their own thread - please don't soil mine with your childish bitching.
(reinforcements have been called up)
I have been told that anybody can live here providing they abide by Home Office rules..Do illegal immigrants abide by Home Office rules? If not why are they why are they allowed to stay? Apparently It would cost billions of pounds to allow the Gurkhas in.
To solve that the illegal lmmigrants should be shipped out tomorrow and the Gurkhas (selected) be allowed in.That would take care of the financial side of things.
Why they should want to come to this once great country I can't imagine. Anyway, you're doing a great job Joanna.
My earlier question raised the conundrum of the (alleged) comparative costs:

http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/News/Question75 2200.html

Though I must say nobody came up with a very convincing explanation.

It was excellent to see Mr Woolas doorstepped by the delightful Ms Lumley. He was clearly out of his depth and extremely uneasy without the benefit of a briefing paper and one or two departmental minders to work his strings. At one point I thought Joanna had her hand up his back forcing his head to nod in agreement when she put her questions and points of clarification to him.

As for whiffeys denigration of Ms Lumley, her tedium is only apparent because she (along with many others) has what she considers a valid argument. Unlike many others she will not simply be fobbed off by nonentities such as Mr Woolas, who simply trot out the usual government mantra and expect to win the argument by dismissal of the dissidents. Im sure shed far rather a New Town be constructed near her home that was to be inhabited by ex-servicemen and their families than to be surrounded by some of the other exciting new blood that this government seems so keen to import.

You must remember, of course, that this is the same Mr Woolas who said just a couple of weeks ago that the illegals living in the jungle in Calais were not queuing to get into the UK, but were being kept out by one of the most rigorous border control regimes in the world. Even if it were true, to believe that the two were somehow mutually exclusive clearly demonstrates his logic.

I just hope he makes as good a job at keeping the sans papiers out as he appears to be trying to do with the Gurkhas.
