They will start by quoting other crimes that have been committed by whites, crimes that have nothing to do with the crime under present discussion?
If one wants these crimes discussed, then they are perfectly within their rights to enter them under their own separate headline.

Because it is interesting to compare similar things and how people's answers to them differ. This crime and the sectarian murder in NI are about one group of religious nutcases trying to control the lives of other people and resorting to murder.
No one posted at the time that all Protestants do not know what honour is or that Protestant is not a peaceful religion. Yet in the the London case, that is the instant conclusion of many.
Why is it that... ...some on this site will try to dilute in some way the serousness of the crime?
My answer reprinted below in no way diluted the seriousness of the crime. It was a robust condenmnation.
It is a very extreme form of control usually to subjugate women. It cannot be condoned, and there have been several successful prosecutions in this country. Hopefully, they will get this people who did this.

Honour killing has nothing to do with Islam or even a country. It is cultural thing and you would find among almost all religions. As far as Islam is concerned then these things has no place in it.
Tamborine To start with can you find me where in Quran it is mentioned anywhere as you claimed?
R1Geezer You are talking about Sharia law taking over. So let me tell you that (if victims dies) under sharia law these people may face death penalty. Whereas here they might be out to do it again after a couple of years. So if you are really heart broken due to this incident then let me know how would you prefer it?
Anotheoldgit- Would you please elaborate on what is Culture of the Country you are talking about and people are not willing to embrace. Having extra marital affair behind your husband / wife back, is it you are referring as one?
That will do for the time being.

To my thinking - religion does not enter into this at all.
The Bible or the Quran or any other religious tome should not be quoted in this issue. It is simply an act of barbarianism against a fellow human being. Not motivated by religion, not creed, not nationalty - merely an abuse of a human being. Perpetrated by individuals who are clearly socially uneducated, disrespectful, animalistic and probably - if you MUST use religion - no doubt mentally deranged through banging their head on the floor periodically during every day of their lives.
Any comments, keyplus90?

As a cultural practice
Sharif Kanaana, professor of anthropology at Birzeit University states that honor killing is:
A complicated issue that cuts deep into the history of Arab society. .. What the men of the family, clan, or tribe seek control of in a patrilineal society is reproductive power. Women for the tribe were considered a factory for making men. The honour killing is not a means to control sexual power or behavior. What's behind it is the issue of fertility, or reproductive power.[56]
An Amnesty International statement adds:
The regime of honor is unforgiving: women on whom suspicion has fallen are not given an opportunity to defend themselves, and family members have no socially acceptable alternative but to remove the stain on their honor by attacking the woman.[57]
Hina Jilani, lawyer and human rights activist
The right to life of women in Pakistan is conditional on their obeying social norms and traditions.[58]
A July 2008 Turkish study by a team from Dicle University on honor killings in the Southeastern Anatolia Region has so far shown that little if any social stigma is attached to the act. It also comments that the practise is not related to a feudal societal structure, "there are also perpetrators who are well-educated university graduates. Of all those surveyed, 60 percent are either high school or university graduates or at the very least, literate
