They call it Karo Kari, it is us that have labelled it the Oxymoron Honour Killing.

Though it is a custom practiced in some Islamic countries, it is not exclusively Muslim and crosses cultures and religions.

It is a very extreme form of control usually to subjugate women. It cannot be condoned, and there have been several successful prosecutions in this country. Hopefully, they will get this people who did this.

There is nothing in the Qur'an that instructs this practice. It is more cultural than religious. To the vast majority of muslims it is as abhorrent as it is to us.

It makes me sick when we are forever being told, that we should consider ourselves lucky to be in a country of such a rich cultural mix, and we should embrace all other cultures.

The two suspects, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were due to face Waltham Forest Magistrates' Court this afternoon after being charged with attempted murder yesterday, Scotland Yard said.

Police have arrested seven young men in total in relation to the enquiry. Five have been freed on bail.

Honour killings have been recorded among Muslim, Hindu, Sikh and Christian communities.
