/// There is no place for racism in the modern world and the sooner that Pakistani twit and his (Substitute "P" or "N" word) wife realise it, the better." ////
Takes on a whole different meaning eh?
Yes it does. It is not funny because the Pakistani twit has not just made a racist remark.
The (original) joke was (allegedly) funny because it was turning racism back onto someone who had just been racist. Your alternative version completely misses that point.
I'd stick with 'Autumn Watch' in future if HIGNFY is too challenging.
There is no place for racism in the modern world and the sooner that Pakistani twit and his (Substitute "P" or "N" word) wife realise it, the better."

I absolutely agree with you. Those words carry vastly more weight. They are reserved words used only when you want to completely abuse someone.
The joke suddenly becomes unfunny.
It would also become unfunny if the words were substituted with 'y*d', or 'bubble'. That's just the way it is - some words just carry more baggage than other.
You could call a woman a silly cow and get away with it. Substitute the word cow with another 'c word' and suddenly things get ugly.
/// not when it's the route to the alzheimers ward. Sorry old chap. ////
As i have said before I will take any amount of name calling unless it is totally offensive, and I think your referral to the alzheimers ward, fits this criteria.
It is offensive to all those who suffer from this dreadful disease, those that are unfortunate to be in these wards, their families and friends.
Since you obviously know no better I take it you was dragged up rather than brought up, so I suppose the whole blame cannot be placed completely at your feet.
In the meantime you will be joining another who makes similar remarks and recently wanted me hanged, and that is I will not be joining you, in any further debates..
You have taken out of context what I have said, simply to try and stifle my views, that apparently are alien to your own twisted views.:
//// call centre workers being a lower class of person///
When I referred to call centre workers, I wasn't by any means belittling them. I chose them simply because their occupation was the first one to come to mind when visualizing a number of persons sitting in front of computer monitors.
//// ok to criticise women comediennes.////
By criticising women comedians (the correct term) I was not in anyway being prejudiced towards women as you wrongly stated.
I am perfectly free to state my views regarding women comedians, it was only this week when they conducted a radio phone-in on this subject, and whether you like it or not, the overwhelming consensus was that women do not make good stand-up comedians.
Although you (and many on this site like you), would wish to change the fact that this is a free country, and as an English man in my own country I refuse to cowl down to narrow minded bigots such as you.
The overwhelming concensus you referred to decided it. You too wouldn't think of introducing a black chap to you white colleagues as a c**n or a darkie or a n*****, now would you?
You know that the vast majority of people in this country simply won't tolerate that kind of language. Not just 'the lefties', but ordinary decent people.
What is it withthis'chip on your shoulder' nonsense?
AOG - I have a great life, loads of friends, a well paid job, a lovely townhouse and a BRILLIANT partner. I have nothing to complain about.
You, on the other hand, come across as being extremely unhappy about a whole host of things. If I disagree with you, you drag out the 'chip on his shoulder' routine.
