How is it that Belgium and it seems soon other European countries can ban the Burka, yet if we tried to implement this ruling in the UK, the European Court of Human Rights would soon be down on us?

Bloody good show that Belgium. Ninja up on the privacy of your home, be British in public, British women have autonomany of their lives, and banks/ building societies need to know who is robbing them.

The wearing of the veil etc is an expression of their faith in Islam.
I think the figure of thirty was the number of women who are believed to have been forced to wear the burkha, I don't know how they arrived at that figure.
Such women would be much better served by outreach workers rather than a blanket ban.
Pun intended.
