Bus fares change

How much notice do they have to give that they are putting the fares up?

Its been several weeks since i've had to use the bus and my mum had only given me 50p to get home but apparantly, it was changed a few weeks ago, that all fares on the route had gone up by 5p. Luckily the person behind me, i kind of know and i think i'd lent her 5p aswell before, so she thankfully gave me the extra money.

If you only go out with the exact money, you run the risk of unexpected expenses like this. You should ALWAYS make sure you have a bit of spare change for such an emergency.

I cant imagine they are legally required to give any notice at all, but as you say "Its been several weeks since I've had to use the bus" then even If they did give notice then as the notice would have been displayed on the bus you wouldn't have seen it anyhow.

My mum won't give me any extra and i don't have any change in the house, come to think of it, i have no money of my own in the house at the moment, at all.

Does your Mum and Dad give you Pocket Money at all molly ? Surely they are not that mean that they give you nothing.....

My mum hasn't given me money since I was 13 and started a newspaper round !!

I was at school all day and i didn't need any more money for anything (i thought) and my mum only gives me what i need anyway.

where were you going? did you not need money when you got there? who goes anywhere without money?

redman, most weeks, if i'm lucky my dad put £5-£10 straight into my bank account, so i rarely have money on me, unless i withdraw it, then its only going to be notes, which i don't use for bus fares, my mum gives me the 50p.

Your mum should have given you a bit more for emergencies. This is common sense.

That lady is not always going to be sitting behind you on the bus, even if you two have a habit of giving each other 5p's.

Always make sure you have extra money with you in case of such emergencies....that way you'll live happy, get through the day and be worry free.

Isn't it funny how people are never as you imagine them, you speak to someone on the phone, get a visual impression in your head and when you meet them they are completely different ! Well she's stingey and is reluctant to give me any money at all. The 50p bus fare is all i ever get off her, and thats only when i need to get the bus home because of bad weather or something, today was the first time i didn't bike in weeks.

yogi is right molly. What if you had to walk home from school on a dark night on your own because bus driver had refused you on the Bus ! Be careful. Be safe.

lol chuck, yeah i'm only 16, in full time, compulsory education with no job, and next year i might not be much better off as i won't get ema money and i might not be able to find a job.
